Default 86 Stinger 222

Im looking for some advice as a new owner and newbie to OSO. I purchased a boat as a project and am weighing my options. The boat has a pretty good mess of different paint on the top and the bottom appears to have been wet sanded and has gone through the gel coat. I am planning on fixing this and am looking for different options to do so. Im sure gel coat repair or a full new gelcoat would be best but obviously pretty costly as well. Can anyone recommend other options that may be effective and less costly??

Any and all suggestions and help is appreciated

Nice! I think I like the dark look.

Have a search in Paints and Fibreglass or ask in there what they recommend. I'm a paint dunce who'd use water-colours for anti-fouling! If I repaint mine again, I'm going Silver base with Lime Green highlights and Graphics. Pantera just did up their new 28SR exactly how I was picturing doing mine.

If there's engough of a Gelcoat left, you should be able to paint over it with any decent 2 pac colour you want then clear over it all to seal it. It's not like these boats live in the water all the time! That's what the trailer's for.

Good luck, be sure to post some more pics!

Great boat,

My first boat was a 1986 222 stinger. it was all red with the black trim and i loved it,

I thought it handled well and ran pretty good aswell

I loved the centre wheel and the large sun pad for a boat its size.
