That big bronze flange nut get loosen at speed and thrust tube comes out.
Flange nuts threads are in good shape.

I ran that boat for many years, and even replaced the packings around the ball and socket assemblies. I did not encounter them ever loosening up.

Yes, i dont know how that could happened, it was strange and a bit scary.
