So, the gas gauge doesn't work... which means the fuel sender is shot. I replace it (or am trying to). I measure it, fit it, test out the electrical (works perfect w/gauge now).
BUT... apparently no one told my 1990 boat that the standard 5 hole fuel sender / cover thing... was... STANDARD.
the aluminum plate is smaller than my old one, and uses a square center hole vs round on my old setup.
So, I took the old one, lined it up w/the new and made some new holes. using the new gasket and all I did my best to then also use a fuel safe gasket type maker of sorts and thought I had it safely holding fuel.
First run of 2014, and when I got back to land and pulled the drain plug, out came some fuel.
went up to the fuel sender and sure enough... leaking when the boat is tilted back (ramps/hills, etc).
SO... great. it's in my garage with the nose down so it stopped leaking... but obviously I need a fix.
I can't be the first person in history to need to replace a fuel sender on a 1990 or older tank...
WHAT do I Do?!
thanks!

well, that's a good plan in hind-site, where I could have drilled the new holes in the old plate, and gasketed them all up... but now I have no old plate.
someone somewhere might... I'm at the point where I'd just pay to have it fixed, and if it leaks be able to take it back and say... it leaks.
I can't be the first person to have this issue... hopefully a competent boat marine service center will get me fixed up...
other than that, the boat ran great last weekend!
