Default Started on transom

Finally working on the boat again...I've been collecting parts (thanks Jason for the Y-pipe!!) but haven't made time for actual work on the boat. I finally cut out the inner glass on the transom, the wood inside fell apart like paper...at least it will be easy to clean and prep for repair. The outer layer of glass is near 1/2 inch thick and solid, so that's good. The hull bottom and sides seem solid, but all the stringers aft of the fuel tank sound hollow, and the two that I cut back near the transom had the same flaky rotten wood inside as the transom. I haven't found actual termites, but it looks like that's what happened to this boat. As I said before, all the interior wood was rotten/eaten up, so I guess they got into the stringers and transom, too. The engine mount stringers are solid, as are most of the stringers and bulkheads forward.

I took pictures, but can't post them for some reason. Will try again later.

Good to hear you are making progress!
Rotten wood is way easier to remove than somewhat ok wet stuff!
We need progress pics!

I think I will cut the tops off the stringers, clean them out, glass in 9 ply Okoume 3/4" ply and put a couple of layers of 1708 over the top. Here's a funny...Okoume plywood is about half the price of CDX here...$48 per 3/4x4x8 vs $97 for CDX
