No, that is confirmed. They cannot paint "cigarette" on any boat.

With that he can retain resale values even more for use used Cig owners and boost the brand image even more. I believe there is enough business out there for Skip (only if quality/service is #1) and Phil to continue the 'Product life cycle' to the next level. It will benefit us all w/a 'Certified(factory) level of Cigarette'. It could even be a seperate franchise endorsed by Cig with cert rules and stds. I think Donzi at one time in the 80's tried to do this but did not follow through. The correct dlr body w/ dlr incentives and factory support can make it happen and create a new industry-its is working very well in the car business...in fact used certified (mfg only) pre owned automobiles has a margin that exceeds 3X that of new units....
Rumor has it retailers love the preowned business.
This is a great concept for boats. Phil basically does this already. He takes a used boat goes through it and "lip-ship'izes" it basically turning it into a new boat again. If more were licensed by Cig to do this it would def. bring the used market of cig up.

I sure would like to find a reasonably priced drive that can hold up to normal powerboating, but my Merc 525s run all day, full out on 87 octane and you can't beat that.

I talked with Vandy in pm on this and here is a scenario albeit hypothetical but could happen easily.

Say your cig was painted by TAOD, pre split and you get some dock rash through your logo. You have the right as the owner of the boat to have a repair shop of your choice repair it, meaning TAOD, you own your boat outright. Skip cant make you have Earl Scheib paint your boat if it was done by someone else. I have a hard time believing skip would win the case, thats a monopolistic trait and is illeagal. He has no right as to tell me as a consumer, who fixes my boat. Now if you take a blank white cig to TAOD, I'm sure they cant paint the logo..,see the difference...Rob

Yes, I totally understand what you're saying. But talk with TAOD. They don't want the headaches of dealing with it.

Agree, like Kevin wrote once on here you can sue a ham sandwich, just waste money in litigation. I'm sure they would win if it got that far but the cost factor, guess it just shows the way CRT is making friends. and what really sucks is after I wrote that I took my tiger out and got prop marks in my logo from a boat on a lift and being in tight area with fast current now I have to go see a painter

Well the film that I have will prevent it, I hadnt put it on because I"m doing some paint work over the winter. Guess I should have. Once I have the kits designed it will prevent all that dock rash/bad fenders/other boats from the logo back.
