CRT Steps up to the Plate

As a few of you know we have had our new 46 for less than a week and we had a major malfunction with our starboard 1075 with a blower sensor. We called Mercury, they said it was a critical failure and to get the boat out of the water ASAP b/f we destroyed a blower or the engine for that fact. The only problem was that they said that they never heard of such a problem in the field yet. They said their motors were flawless. Well, lucky us. I would like to thank Bill and Randy at Lake Cumberland and Skip Braver for getting on the horn and getting Mercury over to Michigan ASAP. I would also like to thank Skip for calling his friends at Skipper Budds to arrange a place to work on this piece. We all complain from time to time about Cigarette not following through or returning phone calls ;), but I would have to say wow I am speechless. Thanks once again to all that helped.

Re: CRT Steps up to the Plate

Cigarette has always been very responsive to any problems that have come up with my boat..Both Neill and Bud have have been great to deal with.Neill even took time on a Saturday to trailer my boat to the local boat ramp, let me play with my boat for the day, then pick me up and take the boat back to the factory to finish some minor details...First class all the way!

Re: CRT Steps up to the Plate

It's great to hear those stories. Sometimes on here all you hear about is the neg. things. They were great also with our first Cigarette. There was a probelm with the fuel pump at the pick up. They had to gut the entire boat, after it was built to get to the fuel cells and redo the pumps and the lines. Talk about a lot of work. The boat was there from Jan to April. I went down during the boat show and about passed out to see a finished boat gutted. I wanted to cry. When it came back Neil and Bud both assured it would look just like it did on deliver. They were right!! Neil is the man! So is Bud. He is a bad a$$ driver. I have a few good stories about him! :D

So I take it the motor issue is resolved and the boat is in service??

Watch how little response this thread will receive vs if you had posted something negative. The bandwagon only carries the haters! :D :D

Glad your boat will be running soon.

Re: CRT Steps up to the Plate

My dad and I are taking it down to Skipper Budd's tomorrow and then the guy from Mercury Racing will be working on it Friday trying to get the starter situation and blower situation figured out. So for now, she's chilling. I hope it's fine by poker run time!! Grand Haven better be ready!!! It's almost poker run time!! :evilb:

The real hard kicker, Lake Michigan has been beautiful for the past two days. Just a foot or so of chop, just enough to maker wanna fly!!! :( Oh well, she will be running soon! :D

I have never dealt with anyone at CRT but I do agree with you about the guys at LCM. Randy, Bill and Tony are all great to work with. Good luck with your new boat. What a ride it must be!

i never did get a call back when trying to get a remote for the hatch but i only left 5 messages, when i called LSM i had a return call in 15 min. Last year when i emailed CRT for some info on the Vice i never heard from them either. Maybe they just don't like me i guess.

Vandy, I'm glad they've stepped up to help you. But, what needs to be pointed out here, is that you have a Brand New boat. This is also not the first new boat you and your crew have bought from Cigaratte in recent times. Your relationship and check book is still important to Cigarette. (The new hasn't wore off yet.) From what I have seen on here, most of the calls and emails that WERE NOT returned are from owners of older/used boats. (And those are the ones that sometimes need the most help.) I know personnally, that I have called 3 times on different occasions and left messages for Bud regarding paint codes and other infofor my boat. (None of which were returned.)

Again, I'm glad they stepped up and I hope it's a sign of better support from Cigarette. :D

Maybe someone who is looking for a job change and new location should call Cigarette and see about being their customer support person. (Assuming they would call you back) :D :D

It took a lot of badgering last year to get our first boat worked on.. It got done, but with a lot of complaining and moaning about things. None-the-less it was done. This one, was different. It was Mercs prob and Skip stepped in. I think it's b/c of the first problem wtih the 1075's in the field. Or the first documented case to Merc.?? I don't know. I have seen a change though in attitude recently?? My father who was irate after the first purchase and said he would never do this again, did. Could just be me though. I do though how that this is a better sign from Cigarette to all though. We are a small community of boaters. They aren't just a run of the mill powerboat.

I definitely love and believe in the product. If I judged my decision to buy my second Cigarette based on their service/support it wouldn't have happened. I, like many others here, have my fingers crossed that this is a sign of better things to come. They have proven time and time again that the product is second to none, but it's time to prove the service after the sale is too. :drink:

He definitely did that. Once Tim gets in there, he'll help get it straightened out and give us some insight on what's happening over there.

Good Luck Tim.

I thought of you actually as I typed that. Neill and I have been friends for quite awhile, Bud has been giving me rides since I was 15, and Skip and I have had many laughs over cocktails. With that combined with Phil's stellar operation I haven't ever had any problems getting stuff done.

It would be nice to have someone there for people who don't get to be around the gang. Good luck with everything.

TSG, you hit it on the head. There are people like yourself, OSG, and a few others on here that know people at Cigarette on a first name basis and they know you when you call. But those of us that don't get that opportunity but need to call there for something every now and then are the ones that generally have problems getting answers or getting things done.

I ended up just getting the remote itself from the company that makes them for $65 as apposed to the kit from CRT that was $600 and it works great it opens both the engine hatch and cabin door.

Tim G. Hopefully I meet you down there sometime in person when I am in the area. When we are down we go see Skip and Neil.. I think it's awesome about TSG knowing the guys for so long. I have only known them for a few years and feel like I have known them for ages. I wish you the best! Good luck you are with a great company.
