I watched that 42 being rigged from the start. It was Chris Cestaro's old race boat.

Purnell, does Cig give you any type of factory support what-so-ever? It's nice to see Cigs on the racing circuit.

not a dime, not any ideas to improve the speed and handling, won't even return a phone call. the team is running out of options w/this boat either go to and stay in "p" class or trade in for a different manufacturer. killer boat, we won't give up yet

You see the problem is that the factory refuses to acknowledge that race R&D produces better and safer boats for the buying public. Where is the "new" race boat they built??? Getting the lid cut off because somebody got the chit scared out of themselves because they have not addressed the horrible hull design that makes these boats so unforgiving. Wouldnt it make more sense to work with somebody like Tres to get the design right???? Oh, thats right... it might cut into the car salesman's bottom line.......

Well, that is a shame.

It would be nice to see at least a little support from the factory. At least a return phone call would be a nice gesture and some conversation on questions you have.

I love it when you get all rialed up about Cigarette.

Now don't kill the messanger here but this is what I was told from those in the know about factory support for SOME of the Cig race teams.

"Why would Cigarette give money to a team that does not win consistantly and does not have a solid racing (the team) history?"

Remember, I do believe they helped out somewhat when Phil raced the Rio Roses Cig.

Your other point about the Kilo boat I don't get. You have to at least give it to Skip for dumping endless coin into the kilo boat and attempt to go after the record. From what I heard, the boat would've done just fine if they would've padded the bottom. But that's not a Cigarette is it? So they could've padded the bottom and gone after it again and taken sh!t for changing the bottom of a one off boat to beat the record and basically not get credit for doing so since it wouldn't be a true Cigarette bottom, or they could just call it a day. They decided to go with second choice.

All in all though, it's like I said in the reply above. It's a shame they don't at least converse with the racers in thier boats. They don't have to poor money to them, but a little communication would be nice.

That is not the case though.... Bob Bull has probably one of the best funded operations as well as a history of winning and professionalism yet Skip was an A-Hole to him even after winning an APBA race. The factory wont put the $$ behind racing because Skip could give 2 chits about what the Cigarette logo says.... he would rather send out a flawed design and watch us spin out and roll over. Once the crap started happening in the pleasure boat world with the TS cigs people started to take notice. How many TS' have gone over now?? Alot, and a hell of alot more than any other manufacturer. How do you fix that?? You send race teams out there with the factory in participation and take real time data, racer feedback, R&D and translate that into boat that win on the race course as well as in the showroom..... not the goddamn embarrassment that the "Offshore legend" has become..... Maybe I will get a bedazzler for christmas and start adorning my Cig T-shirts and selling them at poker runs. Skip will probably hire me then.
