Default Difference between 36 Glad. & 38 T.G.

Besides the obvious size, freeboard, room.. staggered motors etc... is the 36 more of a POKER RUN??? I'm seeing some DEEP V's going to a sit down i.e. Donzi and Fountian. Is this a tend? Something different? The inside room... Left to Right are minimal in comparison to the T.G. What is the performance like with the 36... is it more sporty or??? Just looking for some input on the Best V around. (MY OPINION). Thanks all

I've driven both.

The Gladiator is an awesome machine. When your sitting down you really feel part of the boat and you get a different perspective of the water. The front storage can be a little out of the way, but you can secure your items ahead of time. Have fenders attached and ready before approaching the dock (not after) and you will have minimal dock rash on your paint job. The Gladiator doesn't have a rub rail. They are built 2 ways. One with a narrow cockpit, which gives you more room around the sides to walk to the front. The are also built with a wide cockpit, which obviously give a little more cockpit room, and narrows the sides.

There isn't much to say about the Top Gun. It will run through any water and it's hard to beat. The T/S comes with a cover girl cabin or an extended cover girl. There are (4) very special F-2 Top Gun T/S with empty cabins

With 525EFI's, The Gladiator will run 90-92mph and the Top Gun T/S will run 85-87mph. However, The F-2 Top Guns will be quite a bit faster with the same power.

We ended up going with a Top Gun T/S with no cabin and we have no regrets

In regards to hulls the Gladiator is the same as the TSTG but shaved down on freeboard.

The Gladiator has a full glassed hull/deck bond and no rub rail like the Gun.

Gladiator is lighter thus faster... (in certain types of water)

As you may know I have had both - a TS F-2 and now the Gladiator. IMO nothing beats the lines of the Gladiator. From almost any angle it is one of the sexiest looking boats around.

Obviously, the main difference is probably the sitting down versus standing up issue and the right versus left hand throttling. This is solely personal preference though. Left hand throttling was the biggest adjustment but like anything it was simply a matter of getting used to it. Same with sitting down. Now it feels weird for me to stand up while driving a boat.

In terms of performance and handling the boats are similar. I have been able to run in almost any kind of water in both. The Gladiator feels more like a go kart since it feels smaller all the way around. You are closer to the water, the cockpit is smaller, etc.

In the end it comes down to preference in terms of setup. Less space, sitting down, throttling with your left hand, no cabin, etc. If you have a family or like to invite alot of people - the Gladiator is not for you. It just doesn't lend itself to being a social boat like a TG. You end up stepping on each other, trying to figure out where to put the ice chest, the towels, etc. It's like buying a Mercedes CL55 two door versus a S55 four door.
