i put in ac/heat in my 35 mIstress pretty easy on install while interior was being put in. Only problem is i have no cabin door yet.

How exactly would you install the mermaid system. Does it need a constant supply of fresh water and an exit hole of water?

Yes, the Mermaid, as well as all others, require a pickup fitting below the at-rest waterline and an overboard dump above the waterline. I found the Mermaid unit and install kit a lot easier to install than the others I've done. The Mermaid also comes with a digital thermostat.
Trust me when i say that A/C is definitely worth it.

Did you have to drill any holes through the hull or could you use existing fittings?

Its all seperate plumbing, with its own in and outlets. No big deal.
