Re: Opinions Please
I think the main questions are
1. where do you boat and what are the normal water conditions on a any given hungover day? 2. How long do you want to keep the boat? 3. How fast do you want to cruise at, not wot? 4. How mechanically inclined are you? These will help norrow down your pics |

I can do the little things, but I would never work on an engine when I can go to Full Throttle Marine . They are the best! :D Right now the 1986 35' Cafe Racer is on my "short list". |

Re: Opinions Please
1. When you say " Rough", How rough 4-5', 6-7', or 8'+?
2. If you want to keep only 5 years, you will probably get more for what u paid for out of the cafe. That really looks like a good price on it. 3. With that engine package you will probably top out at 60-65mph or a little faster. We top out around there with a 35 mistress and carbed 502's, which is heviar. 4. You know how it goes the more the HP the more time Wrenching. Just my thoughts, Goood luck, Jack Jr. |

Re: Opinions Please
are you ready to buy or just tire kicking? What do the owners of these boats have to say about them give their feedback :drink: Maybe throw some low ball offers and see how serious they are. I just love those idiots who post their boats so they can look at them online

But, for the right price, I would buy now... |
Re: Opinions Please
Go with the flat deck. Classic lines. Says offshore all over it.
You won't break any speed records but you don't have to sit on the dock when it gets rough either. Ride in all of them in the rough water and you will buy the flat deck. Just my .02 Mark |
Re: Opinions Please
The 38 flat-deck has a HUGE bunny cushion for the women to use for tanning. There are a bunch of pictures of mine here on OSO. Take a look at them and tell me if you'd give me 60K for it. Supercharged 509's with SSM3A drives.

1989 31' Bullet for $39,000
1986 35' Cafe Racer for $49,500 1986 36' Mirage for $49,000 1986 38' FLATDECK SE for $55,000 My first personal favorite is the 86 Cafe. I had one and loved it. Wish I had it back. Those Cyclone 400's are original. I have two sitting in the garage (One in a 70 Chevelle conv 454) great engines but maybe pretty tired. You also have TRS's --not good. The third issue is I see they have made some changes in the cabin. What are those two metal bars between the deck and the bulkhead consoles? Looks like a lot of that has been rebuilt. My guess is they had to do some major structural work. I had the same issue. If you decide to go that route talk to me and I will tell you exactly what to look for. 31 Bullet, have never heard anybody say anything bad about them. 86 Mirage. Built like a brick chit house. I have a couple buddies who have those and they love them. May need props? 38 flatdect, classic and get out the wrenches. |

The Cafe' has definitely had that bulkhead rebuilt. The two posts they installed will do noting but make it crack even worse than it did before. The entire bulkhead has to be tied to the srtingers and sides of the hull a lot better than Cigarette did at the factory. Cigarette did make significant changes in the later years. That is the only beef I ever had with my Cafe. |
