The best running 42' in my opinion are the none stepped cover girl 1/2 cabin Tigers. 500HP's and bravo will put you in the mid 70's all day. Much better ride in the rough stuff too.
A non step 38 1998-early2000 are lighter than the earlier T/G's and run well with 500HP's mid 70's with a full cabin. Still handle well in the rough stuff. The T/S boats are a little more unstable due to the steps being so big and forward on the CG. Not as turn and rough water friendly. Just my $.02 |

The Tiger is definitely a wave crusher but I felt my Gun was just as capable in the rough. The Gun actually flew a little flater when it got out of the water than the Tiger does...

The Tiger was designed for 500HP's and Bravos and a half cabin.
The CG really changes with fuls cabins and #6's and blower motors. Not to say that they aren't good boats but theyare outside the scope of the original design. Things may have changed since they T/S was introduced. I also agree that the T/G is as good a rough water boat as the Tiger, but the extra length does make a differnence. |

Now we're gettin somewhere :evilb: West Coast Big Water and Bigger Boats Seems to be the ticket :evilb: 42's with 500's may not get there first, but It sounds like We'll be DRY and in ONE piece :evilb: Thanks for the all the input :D :drink:

Do you called that rough water try Puerto Rico here we have rough water here top guns navigate I personally have one , but in waves normally 8' to 10' going to st thomas you want to have a 55 foot boat
