Diesel PU Engines in a Top Gun?
What about a set of Duramax's in a Top Gun? It is about 350lbs more each motor I was told. With the electronics you can really get the torque and power. Wouldn't sound as cool but you might not also have to rob a bank for a long weekend.

3 Attachment(s)
the cummins 5.9 would make an even better choice, and they already make marine ones..... merc uses them... just buy one and twin turbo it..... 1600hp 1600 ftlbs torque.... but only 3k rpm and they are even closer and could possibly be made lighter than a BB

What would be the advantage of diesel marine engines? Reliability? I know diesel isn't much cheaper than gas where i live.

If you are looking to hop up some big D's, call Kieth over at CK. One of the Johnson and Johnson kids had one that they cranked up the Yanmars on it on Lake Charlavoix. They seem to do a good job.
