Re: Question about #6 T/S Tigers

So is this #6 and Guns or #6 and Tigers? :D Either way #6's are supposed to be better than Bravos? Right  If you're running under (what 750hp?) Bravos are ok? or when do you switch to #6's  I don't post much either, but it would be nice to know :drink:

The bravos won't hold much more than 650 hp. Even if you are at that hp rating you will have to have them rebuilt. The #6's are some really tough drives. By most, which I know someone will probably slam my comments "since some people know it ALL" are considered bullet proof by most people you talk to. It all depends on Murphy's Law and how hard you run your boat. Yes, bravo's and 6's do run different. You are more likely to loose a transmission before a drive. This I know first hand at SOTW.

P.S. If you have a low hp motor trying to spin 6's it's rough on the motors. Mercury and Cigarette had aspirated 800hp motors in the Xperimental 42 and Neil complained "not enough" power for the drives.

Re: Question about #6 T/S Tigers

THe six is a great drive for over 800HP. The #5 is great for everything below but few people are building boats that way. The belief is run what the big dogs run. Keep an eye out at Ft. Lauderdale or Miami for the new MINI #6 from mercury, haven't heard all the details, but it is designed to fill the gap.
