2000 TopGun Setup help

I recently purchased a 2000 topgun, non stepped from Lake Cumberland. It's got 500 efi with the older style side mount whipples. Full Cabin, 29 pitch 4 blade hydromotive, right Now it will do 80 pretty easy, wants to go faster, but hits the rev limiter at 5500. Stock bravo ones, and I want to upgrade to at least XR drives this winter. Are there any advantages to adding extension boxes and sportmaster lower's maybe shorties. Any prop suggestions? Maybe a 5 blade? thanks in advance.

stellings stand off boxes work well with p5 hydros. no blow out planing. i did a straight 38 with them, and with 750 a side she ran low 90's consecutively.

any questions or help pm me .

Re: 2000 TopGun Setup help

We tried shorties on our 800hp 97 Gun and she didn't run very well.
We actually ended up shimming her 1/2" deeper than stock and she planes right out and is very stable up to her 95mph top speed.
Alot of guy's seem to like the Hydros, my boat lost 13 mph and handled poorly when trimmed up with my 4 blade Hydros. We are now running 29 pitch Bravo ones @ 5600rpms with 1.35 drive ratios.
We rigged her with Max Machine Billet lowers and beefed uppers but we have blown a few drives this season. If I had it to do all over again I would run extension box's and at least #3 drives.Heavy boats with power will keep breaking Bravos. Good luck and enjoy your Gun!

With the notched transom, stand-off boxes are not a necessity. The short lowers and the right props should make a difference. I'd try props first. Tom at Hydromotive will work with you.
