Those look like KK's to me. The KK's featured detents so when you advanced or retarded the throttles they would "click" into a position.

The reason I'm trying to find out this info is one of my shifters detents doesn't seem to be working well. When I go from forward or reverse to neutral it doesn't seem to click. Therfore it makes it hard to find the perfect neurtal position. So, I was wondering what was wrong and what to adjust or replace. Any suggestions?

I've never had a problem. The detent works/clicks as it should.

How do these things work? Can you shift into gear with engine off to test these shifters? What do you think my week link is?

NO! Shifting with the engines off can/will bend your shift cables & make it hard to shift. Don't do it.
