Now, a question for you Cig fans...
What's the difference between the later step Mystique, (like the one shown) and the new Vice ??[/QUOTE]

From what I've been told, the Vice has a bit more rocker in the hull to carry the bow with less hp. (The Vice was originally intended for 496 power)

It's a real sweet rig, handles great.

Kurt,

Thanks for the reply. Was the reason ever determined as to why it flipped to begin with. I assume (hopefully) there was not any structural damage? I ask this question not in criticism, but as a lesson to the other owners.

Thanks again.

I don't think we'll ever know why it went upside down. It was a slow speed roll with no structural damage at all.

What I can say from experience behind the wheel, (20+ hrs on the boat) is the Mystique/Vice is a very predictable vessel. Especially for a twin step V-bottom.

Re: 30 ft Vice info, what to look for?

I found out a few months ago that a buddy of ours actually had this boat built for himself. He had a 496 30 Vice with the stock paint job and wanted a Vice to his specs. However, he traded this one back to Phil before it was complete and bought a 42X.

The boat is doing very well and the owner is very satisfied with it. It is smokin fast for a 30' boat with 525's.

The pictures don't do the paint job justice

I picked up a used 30' mystique with 500's. I too needed the 30' factor for towing and storing. Love the boat.

The dealer advertised it at 75 mph. I have not had a gps installed yet to get acurate numbers. As soon as I do I will post.

Vice/ Mystique boats look great until a full size Cigarette pulls up next to it! Your Vice/ Mystique suddenly feels like a Hot Dog boat next to a TG/ X/RR.

The SC Yellow/ Blue Mystique just hit Ebay again too. I would rather spend the same dollars on an older TS TG.

A 30 ft boat fits my boating style and its not a matter of trying to maximize size for my dollar.

This assumes you have the space for the 38...

By the way, what is the speed of the Vice with the 525's, compared to a 38TS-TG with 525's?

Vice will run low 90's where a 38 T/S with 525's and a cabin runs mid-high 80's.

Gordo 12-19-2006 08:42 PM

Re: 30 ft Vice info, what to look for?

On the 38 TS/TG, how much (if any) difference in weight or performance with the full cabin as opposed to the covergirl cabin?
Make no mistake, I would LOVE to have a TS/TG, but I don't mind spending some time hangin it out in the air, and low 90's with stock power sounds like a good time to me.

They didn't make a T/S with a "full cabin." They have the cover girl and extended covergirl. I don't know the weight difference but I've heard it's a mph or so.
