Most of the paperwork at Cigarette when the 28 was in production has been lost. I tried getting some info on my old one a LONG time ago. They basically said everything was typed or written back then (IE: No computers). With all of the changes in ownership and management throughout the years, you're probably out of luck on finding much solid info on how many there are.

Bud looked for information on mine. Everything (in terms of records) from the early 80's and older are gone or lucky to come by it seems.
For what it's worth, I have a 73 28 Open, and I have heard a few times, from different sources, that there were approximatley 85 of them made. I would think that there would maybe no more than double the 28 SS' made, so that might put the final production number of the 28's around 250 -MAX. Sound about right?

BLee is correct. When Scott and Craig looked up the info on my old 28 back in 1995 they came up empty and it was a 1978. Most of the old 20,24 and 28 info was in Don's old office. Who knows what happened to it. Too bad....
