I think I am out of this one, he was pretty plain about wanting $96K as bottom dollar. I explained the NADA guide he was looking at was indicating a step hull, we agreed to politely disagree.... and end discussion.

So I am back looking, will wait for the right deal to come along...

For anyone interested, I found a BEAUTIFUL 2001 Mystique with 377 Scorpions for sale, never titled, brand new, with warranties, trailer, and all dolled up, $145K. Definitely more than I am wiling to spend, but I think MSRP on that boat was close to $200K. If someone is interested let me know and I can pass on a phone number, I am not a buyer in that price range....

That sounds like the Raymond's boat (new 01). They must have Smithsonian Institute coming to LOTO and that boat will be on display. They act like that boat is still being made and is in huge demand!
Dean have you seen the 94 TG on ebay (premiercars.com) is listing the boat. Was a Lipship overhaul recently. Wants 120K on his website but at 89K he didn't have one bid on ebay.

yal, I saw that one, called them on it ans it seems they are stuck on $120K. More than I am willing to spend so I did not made conclusions about "value"....

Yes, the Mystique is Raymonds, and while I did not spend a lot of time on it, they did prive it way below MSRP, and according to Shirley, well below cost. Obviously not far enough below there though....

Prob with Scorpions is the drives are 1.64 and you can't swap the motors without swapping the gears so you can prop it right... and good luck selling 1.64 gears...

When it comes time for re-sale you'd know why, few want small blocks (consider the age and its still "new" ) . GLH is right, even if you upgrade its extra work .
