Good lookn' boat!!!

The only thing I see being the problem is finding money to buy it.I think you would have to get a home equity loan or something of that sort to find money for it. I don't think banks or credit unions will loan on something that old.

I could be wrong ...

If I did have the cash for it,,,I would snatch it up in a heart beat.... :D

Good luck selling her!!! :D

I agree, but I think you should lower the price to move it. There are alot of deals out there right now.

Well thanks for the input, I guess. I checked on this site and there isn't much to chose from in a Gun in that price range. The Pink Flamingo boat is a little less, with blower motors if you want that, and old style interior. Another one for $80K with 425hp motors, geez, my boat has new 750HP motors. So don't think the price is out of line but maybe someone has an offer??????

And there are finance people out there that finance older boats too. Normal banks may not write paper if older than 10 years but money is out there.

Essex Credit can finance older boats. Key Bank will hold the note.

I wasn't trying to insult you......sorry if I did. I meant that you will probably have to lower the price to sell it. It's a buyers market right now and not many boats are selling. I went throught this earlier this year selling my Powerplay...I got "beat up", but did what I had to do to sell it.

Book value is virtually non-existant right now with boats.....nobody is buying a used boat for Nada or Buc pricing. That's the way it is. Good luck selling the boat :drink:

No offense taken. I just looked around at what is currently available and haven't seen much in this category for this kind of money, especially with this kind of power and trailer. The price could come down some and I'd be at a break even point. Since I haven't sold the Bullet I'd even consider taking a hit just to move it.

So, Anybody??? :):):)

I'm sure by now that you have a good idea about what it's going to take to be the new owner. I'm just waiting for your stars to get lined up!!!! I know its the boat you want, just hope someone else doesn't beat you to it!!

Re: Can't believe this Gun isn't gone

The bullet is real clean and sharp, but if its not moving, and you want it gone then you have to lower the price. Even if the "perfect" buyer comes around, he/she is going to make offers on other comparable boats, and is going to go with whoever is willing to take the hit and get their boat gone. 50grand in your pocket and your dream tg, or a bullet you aren't using (which as it sits is not going up in value, but most likey as the restoration gets dated will go down in value) and your tg. What happens if you sell your tg for less than you have invested in it, and still have to eventually lower the price of your bullet later to get it gone?

When I called you the other day you said you turned down $60k for the Bullet. That's a very "generous" offer.

Wow! 50grand for the tg. Sounds good to me.

Re: Can't believe this Gun isn't gone

I love the Bullet, it is a great looking boat and has apparently been well cared for and restored with a lot of care.

But I also see several slightly newer bullets with new power in very nice condition for low $40s. $20K is a LOT of money for boats that are near the same condition, almost a 50% price differential. And these boats are not "flying off the shelf", most have been for sale for several months.

I am working on a trip to look at one now, looks like it will be what I am looking for. I just need to find time when I can get out of the office for a couple days. Hope to make that trip by late next weekend.

I am not one to say what someone else's stuff is worth, expecially to them, but given the inputs I am getting this is the internal decisions this buyer is making..... hope it helps, if not ignore it...

You are not going to redo a Bullet RIGHT & sell it in the 40s....
Pretty paint & fresh power does not a resto make......
I redid mine, mostly myself & had over 65k invested in it.....
It will be cheaper to buy a nice one, like Johns & spend the $ up front
I speak from personal experiance.... :D

Has anyone ever redone a boat and got all their money back out of it? Just a question not trying to start something.

Thank you, well said. Don't know where the boats are that Dean mentioned, since when I did a search there weren't that many, and the ones in the $40s were old original boats with 454s in them. It seems he mentioned that he didn't like my flag paint job so I'm sure that is a factor.

Here is a cheap bullet for sale.
The engines would take $7000x2 to build them up right w/ exhausts.
Throw in another $18-20g for bravos.
And another 10-15g for rigging and some paint.
Hmmm, may need another 5g in upholstery.

So thats about 45-50g to finish it? If you're lucky... and if the hull is solid.

I dont think that one has a title either.

on a side note. i think alot of people with boats for sale are going to get hurt in the next couple of years. war, gas, insurance, ethonal, are all adding up to nobody wanting to buy right now.

Sorry if I have confused you with someone else. Had thought for sure you had commented that you liked it but just weren't in love with it. And for sure I know that its not for everyone, like any other graphic paint job. I know I love it, and I always get comments and questions about it at docks, especially everyone wants to know "what year is it?" They are amazed when they hear that it is an 88.

I've never had the boat to top speed yet. Besides the checkout ride when I bought it I've only had it out one time and wasn't familiar enough yet to try her out. The previous owner claimed 85MPH, which is probably about right for a Kevlar boat with this power.

Does anyone remember that 1990 Top Gun that Midwest Powerboats re-did? We looked at that boat before the re-do probably 3 years ago and that could have been bought for $57k. It had 750 Lingenfelter's and #3's.....

Re: Can't believe this Gun isn't gone

Has anyone seen the '94 TG resto that's for sale in the classifieds right now? It's priced at 119,500 but that rig is absolutely pristine with all work being done by Phil. Is it high for a '94, yes. Is it high for a '94 with brand new 500 EFI's, Bravos, Hunter paint, interior etc, etc - NO! All in what you're looking for. And, as someone stated earlier, do a resto yourself and see what kind of peso you have to put into it to get a quality product. I did a partial resto on my 89 Formula 311 (engines, drives, interior) and I can tell you, I didn't even come close to getting all of my money back although it did bring more than other 89 311's at the time and the buyer got a solid, clean boat.

Just my .02
