Cigarette Firefox 24

Are these boats hard to come by? Where would be the best place to look for them?

They are very rare. 1987 only I believe. Was told there were less than 12 made

They built one in 2001 for Steve Miklos to race in Factory 1. Adib Mastry now owns it.

Woogie, yep that's it. Were did you find that picture? They tried to race this boat in Factory 1 but it was no where near competitive. They really tried hard to make it competitive too. They then tried to race it in P5 then turned it into a pleasure boat.

Chris from Ocean Performance gave me that poster back in 1987. I had it on my wall for many years until I moved to Maine. I wish I kept it!

Comanche, hopefully your boat will live in my yard someday :drink: I want I want I want :D

What are we looking at for WOT RMP and speed on the gps?

Comanche3Six 12-03-2006 06:34 PM

Re: Cigarette Firefox 24

Wide Open short burst
2ft chop 5000 rpm's 82mph
no gps
If it is glass high 70's
This is a very heavy duty solid 24 degree offshore powerboat. Built with the same stringer and bulkhead material as a Top Gun. It will cut water other 24's will not or they will delaminate. It takes a lot of torque to push this Firefox, but the ride and build quality are second to none.

Camanche is right on the Fire Fox it likes the ruff stuff. We've had ours in 3's and 4's and it loved it.

Ours is completely gutted right now getting ready for a transformaution.

A buddy of mine is a #3 speedmaster FireFox, one of I think 3 that were built with speedmasters. His is blue. His father was the original owner, sold it. An I found it on here a few years back and he bought it back. It is getting a 510cid Keith Eickert motor this winter....... as with the existing 330, I am not sure it does much better than 50mph.......... with the 725 it is getting...... I would be impressed if it ran 80.

Before and when I picked my Firefox up at the factory I dealt with Val Jenkins from Cigarette. He was in charge of all the rigging. He said earlier Firefox's with #3 SSM were installed at a low 20" X dimension. He recomended a 21" X dimension for my Firefox because he felt 20" had the drive too deep in the water and this scrubbed off speed. We went with 21" and it is a sweet spot! I have owned the Powerboat since new......19 1/2 years. I think I even posted a few pics of my friends and myself picking it up at Cigarette. The old days.....

Re: Cigarette Firefox 24

I was looking at this pic and remembering the 1 1/2" O.D .250 wall custom stainless grab rails. The dash on the Firefox has a radius from port to starboard so a straight rail was out of the question and one to match the dash had to be fabricated leaving no marks when finished. My buddy Sked did a beautiful job tweaking that rail in the fork of a tree till it was perfect..not a mark on it!

Post a few pics of the Firefox as the restoration progresses. I love those type of threads. Especially when I'm not doing the work!
