Its most likely priced low by it an former race boat and has been in multiple accidents.

Huh? :drink:

I think it is an ex-race boat that has been in a few "incidents"...... :D

I would still(and may) jump on it. It's sweet ride, always been one of my favs.

Did it roll? This is the one that has the video pitching the drivers?

I'm not sure about a roll. I actually think it's never been over, just pitched about everyone that has run it hard.

That being said, I almost bought it from D-Hlaw, and I might try to buy it again. It's a bad mofo if you give it respect. I don't plan to make too many hairpins with any of my pleasure boats.....

Bob has completely gone through that boat. It has a brand new interior that allows it to be driven from one side, stereo, back seat, etc. He did a really nice job. He also had the stock 500's redone by Innovation and turned up to 560hp. It probably has less that 20 hours total since Bob bought the boat. As for the history.... Tres had the boat built and ran it for half of the season in F2 which he and Todd won. The boat had never rolled but had spun at lake X, but that is to be expected in a new boat that is testing. Tres never spun that boat in a race. Boat was sold to Kevin King. He and Gil Lieber raced the boat in GLSCS and damn near got killed. Boat rolled and sunk in fresh water. Boat was returned to Martin Offshore and completely refurbed by Tres and was perfect. The boat was then sold to Dave Edelstein who raced the boat in OPA P3. Dave and Val had an incident in OPA but the boat did not sink it just broke off a drive and took on some water. No prob, Pro Roc took care of the issue and Dave ran the boat for many races without incident. I bought the boat from Dave and raced in 2 races resulting in a spin and partial roll in Marathon ejecting myself and BK1. That sucked. I traded the boat to Bob for the super V. Bob is a "no expense spared" kind of guy. I would not hesitate to buy that boat. It is one of the best balanced and fastest boats I have owned. It just needs to be respected in race speed turns, period. Tres had it figured out, Dave had it figured out, I didnt. Somebody is gonna get a awesome deal. Greg, you would be nuts to even delay one minute in calling Bob. That will get snapped up quick!!!

For a 100K it is a good deal. I am seriously thinking about this boat because I can swing buying it before selling mine. If I did buy it, I would sign up for the Tres Martin school and let him show me that boat first hand.

I am convinced that Tres is the only guy that can run this boat at race speed safely. At pleasure speeds this boat is just as safe as any other twin step.

Wow! Good deal, if it was put back together and completely re-rigged properly (which I have no doubt that it was).

Someone's going to get an awesome boat (hopefully, it will be either either:
1) Mr. "It's Ms. Right Now.... not Ms. Right" aka Cash, or, as thedonzjr. says,
2) Mr. "Why do the women ALWAYS walk right past us and straight to you" aka Gordo!).

I know both of you guys have REALLY been lookin' for the "right" boat to buy!

No "fist to face" conversations Greg! :D

I was shown photos of that boat when new. At that time, they were not sure how to lay out the dash and cockpit. Thus, I think that it was Gladiator #1.

The re-do on the dash would be easy. Templates are already made.... Someone should REEEEEALLY jump on this at the price.

I'd LOL if it got bid-up! Now that would shut all the nay-sayers up re: Cig. resale - wouldn't it! haha.... :drink:

When Tres raced the boat it was setup a little differantly. They ran arneson rocker plates with fins on the outboard edge to hold the thing in line. Great idea and it worked. Also knowing Tres he spent alot of time working on the bottom and testing props to get the boat to run his way. When Kevin King bought the boat I don'i think much of the trick parts went with it. This would have made a huge differance for the rest of the owner. Did they ask Tres for help? Or didn't he offer the information when selling. Who knows.

The boat still had the arneson plates when I bought it as well as the wing plates.

You won't find a nicer boat at that price. If I wasn't long on boats and short on cash, I'd have already made the deal.

Sank, Rolled, Raced, Bought ,Sold, Redone, Etc.. anyone ever hear of stress...it happens more on a boat than a US Air 737 Plane. At 100K I would be looking the other way... no offense but it is for sale at 100k because no one will give him 110k :D

cue fountain delamintion joke.....now :evilb: :evilb:

Just kidding, but really, yeah the boat has been run hard, put up wet, been under water, but the damage is either there or not, if a boat goes under there is only lasting damage if the water penetrates into wood or foam coring, otherwise its not really a concern for the hull itself, and the rigging obviously has been gone through several times since then.

I've driven a boat that the decks were so worn they flexed when you walked on them, but the hull itself was solid as day 1. Sure it was beat the death and looked like hell, but structurally that meant nothing.

You are correct, but I JUST(and I mean just) made an offer on a house I can't pass up here in S. Fla when this thing popped up for sale.... :(

I should have an answer asap, if they decline I may be living in a truck pulling a Gladiator around. :drink:

There's a reason why you sold your Fountain and are looking for a Gun, Same reason this boat is fine even after all of that....

IT'S A CIGARETTE!!

Really though, someone explain to me why this boat (run hard, raced, rolled, sunk, etc.) is any different than someone who's run their boat just as hard?

I understand racing takes it's toll on a boat but is there something that a suvey can't find on a race boat that it could find on a regular boat? Wet transom? cracked stringers? stress cracks? First off, all of that can be repaired (just like new) and probably happens on many of the boats that are sold that ARENT race boats. So this boats history is known, I don't think it changes it any from any other comparable Glad on the market. The only reason it sells for less is because people use it's history as a tool to lower the price. Right or wrong.

But I know this, if I was in the market for a new boat I wouldn't pass on this one due to it's history. I'd get a survey and find out if anything major is wrong and then jump on it. At least you know what to look for with an ex raced boat with a known history. You buy some ya-hoo's boat off the market you have no idea of the history except the survey.

Just my .02.
