Default Don Aronow question

I spent yesterday in NY with Michael Aronow, comparing information on what HORBA has in it's files and what the Aronow archives have.....there are tons of unbelievable stuff between the two sources.

We would like to do a tribute to Don in 2007 as he would have been 80 years old, if he had lived this coming March 1.

What would you, the people like to see?

We have everything from childhood photos to early racing shots and actual movies of him racing both here and overseas.

One idea was a book containing 80 photos, that had never been published before. Another was a history with photos of the development of each boat company that he started.

Please help with your suggestions, as we would like to get this organized and up and running soon after the first of the year.

Thank you for your interest and suggestions. You can write to us directly at www.historicraceboats.com or post an answer here on OSO.

Hey Charlie, great news! I'd be interested in anything boat related. Love the idea of a photo book, anything about the companies and people that made it happen. Key employees (like Brownie) stories of Don's buddies like Knocky.

DVD's of Don's races would be awesome. Any interviews with Don? That would interest me!

Can't wait! When Michael first released King of Thunderboat Row, I drove down to the New York boat show. I was fortunate to meet Michael Aronow, he signed a book for me and it's one of my posessions that I'll never let go.

Keep us posted!

Kurt

The history of Don and the boat companies sounds real cool.

Charlie,
It was a pleasure meeting you last week.
It would be nice to gather all this information/pictures together, charge admission and have a party at the Miami Boat Show. Have a couple of historic race boats on display and the proceeds could benefit HORBA. Also have some of Dons fellow racers as VIP speakers to share "War" stories.

It would be really cool if you could get Cigarette, Magnum, Formula, and Donzi under one roof as partial sponsors.

P.S. My new Cigarette model is awesome !!!!!!

If it is- I would like to thank you for sharing you and your Father's story with us!

No 38cigmike is not Michael Aronow.

He is a big Cigarette fan though and he is now, the proud owner of one of the limited edition models that HORBA has for sale.

I personally delivered the documentation to him to make sure that he had it in time for Christmas. The model came to him a day earlier by UPS.

Maybe he can post a picture of the model in it's new home.
