38 TS with 600s?
What would it run? 90s? Has there been any built with the 700/Nxt1 setup?
Thanks,Johnny |
Re: 38 TS with 600s?
With 600's they run Id say 88-91 mph, and none have been built with 700's.
|
Re: 38 TS with 600s?
id say it should run about 95 and I also believe there are none with 7 hundos...
|
Re: 38 TS with 600s?
Remember, this is a 38, not a 39 with stag. like Joe's new boat which ran 94 out of the box. The GT's with 525's run 86 mph, so I'd change to 90-93 mph.
|
Re: 38 TS with 600s?
89-91 TOPS on a 38 w/600's...525's are 86mph.
Joe also has "worked" 5 blades. |
Re: 38 TS with 600s?
My 02 TS / 575's - 5 blade Herrings - would run 91 mph. 13,200 lbs

Re: 38 TS with 600s?
I hear there's an '07 38 being built with a pair of 572 NA Zuls right now. Should run close to 100

What drives are they going to be using?

Hit the wrong button before....I'm going to say 90-91mph. He's just about at 94mph now. People have told me about 3mph with the 5 blades and that would put us at 95-96mph or so. Too bad he didn't wait for us this morning, I would have liked to seen the boat :D
It's actually 94 in flat calm water... couple more in chop etc.... Joe P.S. B --- sorry we missed you guys as well. Always like seeing the race boat. Again, I still can't believe you are considering selling it (you and Randy both!!!!). Classic boats that would be hard to part with.... Joe |

Re: 38 TS with 600s?
Are there any fast TS Guns out there? I'm curious to hear some feedback about high speed stability.

Re: 38 TS with 600s?
Joe, I wasn't being sarcastic, I am curious if anybody out there is running 110 plus in a TS Top Gun, I'm wondering if the hull can handle the speed any better than my OL.

Re: 38 TS with 600s?
Tazz is just starting the season out w/ a bit of subtly vs. his normal "my boat is faster than yours is". j/k!
Tazz, seriously, post a pic of your boat. I'm not sure that I know it. |

Tazz, seriously, post a pic of your boat. I'm not sure that I know it. Here's a pic a Tazz's boat. It's not very good, but it's a 2002 with 1000 DME motors and 6's. |

It's an 02 37 Quadstep, 1000's w/6's. The boat runs 110 tabs down with plenty of power left, but over that becomes more than a handfull, thats why I was wondering if the TG's had the same manners at those speeds.

Id doubt it from what I've heard. For a vee you've got it with your OL.

Re: 38 TS with 600s?

Re: 38 TS with 600s?
Maybe it's not possible in a v-hull, but i'd like to have stability at 120mph. My Cat is so stable at 120+ you could sip a martini.
|
Re: 38 TS with 600s?
Tazz,
When we ran the silver/red Factory Cig. 700 boat it chined a bit at appx. 105, backed off the throttles for a sec. and right back on them and it settled right in at 107 MPH. We also ran it at 100 MPH + on the LOTO run. There are comments here on OSO about the cat guys being so surprised as we ran with, and passed many, of them. OU Want Some ran side-by-side w/ us the whole way to Big ****s. He can attest ---- Joe P.S. Are you thinking about selling the OL and stepping up? hehehehehehe..... |

Re: 38 TS with 600s?
The OL is rock solid up to 110, it's OVER that where it becomes an issue. The OL will be run for one more summer then...who knows, i'm not brand loyal to any one boat, but from what I hear the Cig may be no better at those speeds .

Re: 38 TS with 600s?
I was just reading an older (1 maybe 2 years) Poker runs America magazine where they tested one with staggard 1075s that they said ran 120+
|
Re: 38 TS with 600s?
...Back to the original topic, I just saw a pic Tank posted in the Show Us Your Cig (or something similar) post here in the Cig. section that has a new 38 w/ 600EFI's.
I don't know the guy.... Tank (or anyone else), what's it getting speed wise etc.... |
Re: 38 TS with 600s?
thats our boat joe...does 90 everyday....92 when the conditions are right...the biggest difference with the 525s to 600s is the acceleration...btw you have a beautiful boat love the paint

Which dealer did you buy it thru? |
Re: 38 TS with 600s?
Ocean Performance, great guys to work with
|
Re: 38 TS with 600s?
I have seen your boat multiple times at Ocean, and it's awesome. We also saw you on the Mohegan Sun poker run. It looked great running!!
|
Re: 38 TS with 600s?
1000's on anything shorter than 40' is tricky and I would venture dangerous.
Specially after I saw a 36' (not even a stepped boat) with 1000's crash & roll right in front of me at the NYC Poker Run. It was clear that a hull that short could not handle that kind of power for long safely in rougher than average waters. |
