Re: 38 Flatdeck Redo Complete
To Marylandmark: The history of the boat from the 3rd owner is that the boat was originally purchased by a guy who owned a bunch of used car lots in Cincinnati or Cleveland. In 1984 the boat was purchased for $130,000. It's kind of an odd-ball Flatdeck since it came with a windshield instead of a race fairing and it also has factory installed air conditioning which I have yet to try.
The guy I purchased the boat from bought the boat in Pennsylvania and took it back to either Kentucky or Ohio before moving Englewood, FL. Part of the exhaust system came out his mid 90s race boat, Utterly Fantastic; A 40' Skater painted like a black and white cow. To Jeff 32: I estimating horsepower to be in the 525 to 550 range based on the engine components and top end numbers. To Seahawk: The asking price on the boat $44,000. I got the Cig on a trailer that was only 6 months old for $37,500. I then sold my 1986 Formula 272 SR1 for $26,500 and used that money plus another 10K or so to get the boat were it is now. The only thing left to redo is the cabin which needs new carpet and recovered cushions. I'll probably have close 80K when all is said and done, but I also have custom one off boat that is obviously very unique. At least to me. I've always been intrigued by the era that this boat came from: Big money offshore racers with questionable professions and offshore boats hauling questionable product. Not to mention that this was one of the last great V-bottoms designed by Aronow before his death. |
