I'm looking at a 1988 Bullet as I have previously mentioned in an earlier post. I've had my mechanic look at it and have discovered some of the things that needs to be fixed, but the list really isn't that long. I'll list what I found below for people who don't care about that part....
MY REAL QUESTIONS ARE:
I have the boat's hull number (CRT31B23B888)
1. What does the number mean? CRT=Cig, 31B=31 Bullet but what is the rest of the number?
2. How do I find out info about this particular boat? I have seen what appears to be detective work that rivals Monk on Cigarettes in this forum and would like to know were to search to get this info. I want to know the original buyer, original motors, and original paint since it's all fire engine red right now.
Can anyone help me out? Thanks!
Now what I found with my mechanic....
1 of the 2 bilge blowers has a bad bearing
No cockpit cover
No cockpit carpet (Just non-skid and I dont care about the carpet)
Headliner drooping in a 2 foot section
Rear seat base upholstery is usable but should be replaced (1 split seam and greasy from engine work)
No sink water pressure
No anchor light
Needs 2 new batteries
Instrument backlighting didn't work
Engines seemed Ok and were turned over, but not started in the garage for exhaust and fresh water thru engines
I still plan to get a surveyor out there to look at it and to hear the engines run, but what do you guys think so far? Total hours on the boat are around 375. Boat has 454's with B&M blowers and Stainless Marine exhaust. According to owner, it maxes at like 6 lbs boost spinning 3 blade Mirage 27 pitch props and is just under 80mph according to him. Does the speed match the engines, or is he full of BS? Is it worth around 30K?
Thanks guys!!!!

Hey Guys!
I came in this morning hoping to see something here. Can someone tell me how to find out info when I have the hull number? It really would be helpful to get the history on this boat. I looked at the Cigarette site and unless I'm missing something, they only want to help you with a new boat purchase.
Thanks!

Do a search on Cig. hull ID #'s and you will find alot of informaiton on decoding the numbers. or call Cigarette directly and they can tell you. Bullets are real nice boats. Good luck.

This should put things to bed for you. If you do buy the boat I have orginal owners manuals and wiring schematics (copies) available.
CRT : Cigarette Racing Team
31B : 31 Bullet
23 : 23rd bullet built
B : February
8 : Model year 1988
88 : Year built 1988

Thanks CIG3,
I have read on other threads that there are 68 Bullets built. If I do get it, it has no docs that I found onboard, so I may take you up on the offer.
I was hoping the NIN would give more info, like paint scheme, etc., but no such luck I guess.
Thanks for the info.
I have emailed Cigarette this morning and maybe I'll get something back from them.
