Default Permanent Coast Guard Doc #'s... How To?

Need a bit of guidance on where to and how to affix the permanent CG Documentation #'s on the boat... The CG says something about covering the numbers in clear resin. Any body got pics or tips on this? Thanks

I just got my renewal notice yesterday and saw there was a flyer in there for a compny that makes the #s....but I dont think it'd be a big deal to get them made...Theyre about the same size as temp boat i.d. (C.F. #'S) like dealers use. Most people just mount them on the inside of the eng compartment...Thats where I'll do mine when i get around to it!

Don't know about the CG in other areas but they have never given me any grief about having them cleared over. A good set of vinyl numbers in the bilge is really all they are looking for. The resin over the top would probably be to make the removal a little more difficult in case of theft but hell, the thieves grind and restamp HIN's so clearing over some numbers in the bilge isn't going to stop them.

Mine are under the back seat and cleared over. Why clutter up a perfectly clean engine compartment

Older boats I've had had them burned into a stringer.....now THAT was permanant

Good idea CH. I haven't installed mine in the Cig yet. I think I'll put mine under the back seat too.
