To kill this ridiculous thread on overpriced boats, this boat was traded at the Formula dealer for 90K back in March 07.
So I guess 15 year old TG's/ Cafe's aren't worth 75-90K in the real world anymore. :D

But dealers always give you less than what the boat is worth so they then can resell and make some money. You never get the full value of what your boat is worth when you trade it in.

or dealers give you what it is really worth, and people just pay more

Go to the dealer and try to buy that boat for 90 grand and see what they tell you. Numbers on trade in's can be played with, depending on the price they gave him the new boat for. The boat is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, thats the real world......

Me too... But if that was mine,
Neptune had a magic eraser, some soft scrub and a can of zep 45 with him. I took all kinds of **** apart and the boat is in nice shape. Maybe thats a new way to clean the boat, might be on to something there.......

That boat is a time bomb for the dealer but has a lower floorplan cost than the new 370SS he sold. That Playboy could eat a drive/blow a motor and suddenly dealer is upside down. He has had it in inventory for about 4 months, summer is here I would bet 90K would easily take that boat now!

My bad, i was speaking in general terms about trade in's, not that specific boat. If the delaler got what he wanted for the new boat he may very well just want out of the trade in. It's a numbers game, plain and simple.....

Actually, many dealers give more than the boat is worth on trade towards an over inflated price on the new boat, makes the buyer feel like he got good money for his trade-in, when in reality he's paying up on the other end.

Same thing though.

Call the dealer and offer 90, I guarantee you that he will laugh at you

My point is, if Gellner did the motors, they are done right - I think Dreamer wants a bunch more cash-wise for his Playbay and I'll tell you - its not a prefect boat....My two cents again, Ask Mr Horsepower about those motors -

The engines in Ted's boat are perfect! New EVERYTHING....injectors,pistons,lifters,all new valve train, ect... He did things the right way and not half azz. The boat runs flawlessly and yes the engines will go 500 plus hours even run hard. He is dedicated to my maint. program.

Huh??? Actually, this is how it goes..."Do you want more for your trade-in or do you want the free floor mats?":D

Tazz has it right

OL40SVX 06-12-2007 08:32 PM

Yes, what he said is right and what is carried out but the delta between the two is the same if they raise the price in both trade in and new or lower the price on both new and trade in. The deal never plays out into your favor by the delaer usually has to make some money off your trade in somewhere down the line, and im sure they would never sell that 35 for 90K.
