I think 330 is premature for a rebuild. Also a merc powered playboy is worth more money to me than an updated non merc playboy.

Dude his boat is Merc powered with Eickert add ons and Gellner put the power back together. Do your homework on Gellner and you will realize his boat is the epitome of Playboy boats with the factory paint/graphics/interior to go with it.

330 is not premature for a salt water boat in S. FL where it is boating season year round.

Let me add on to my previous statement "stock merc power". By the way, I too love the full playboy with paint and interior as opposed to the one we are discussing. Dude

Guys- a set of 500efis are only worth 20-25k anyway. Who in the heck out there is spending 25 grand on rebuilds of existing motors to merc specs.

Not disputing that. At 330hrs in no way does a 500efi need a full rebuild. Top end freshen( valvesprings etc.)maybe. ( Mercury recomendations) Bottom ends on an EFI are good till 800hrs. Call Mercury. Just trying to break the cost down for the guy interested in this boat.

not if u want it to run... 350-400 hrs leak down will be goin down.... motor will be fine... just 5mph slower....

have u owned em? at 350hrs? had them checked by the best?
tore em apart and had em redone?

they go 5-6-700 hrs... if u cruise at 300rpm all ther life

I'd never put 800 hours on a marine BBC of any sort, much less a 500hp, EFI etc., regardless of Mercury recommendations. You put that many hours on one and you are asking for a catastrophic failure. No thanks - I'll stay in the 300 - 500 range.

Sorry Dreamer im not trying to be a douchebag. My 500s have almost 500hrs. compression tested every year well. Oil changed every 20hrs. and valvesprings done every 200. Motors run like a bat out of hell and have never been apart yet. I guess it is all in how and who maintains your equipment. Depending on how a 330 hr boat is maintained I agree that there could be some underlying issues with the motors that could make it not such a great deal. (Cig forum is more exciting than the Reggie forum)
