That boat was owned by Ray Gennick and traded on my canopied gladiator last year. Ray took great care of that boat and it runs well. I believe that Craig Barry raced that boat years ago and did well with it. It runs in the high 90mph range according to Ray.

I understand what a race boat is.(i have had a few)To modernize this particular race boat a total investment of over 175,000.00 will be needed. For that type of money i can get get into a much newer 6 drive Tiger. What are the pluses and minus of each esp considering resale down the road.

PS when i say modernize it would consist of rebuilding and converting the engines to blowers, exterior paint ,interior guages and upholstry, updated electronics(.Hopefully the drives and headers are ok).Once again any info or opinions from you guys would be extremely helpful here. Thanks Joe.

We tried to buy it three years ago.. If you want you can pm me for details on the condition. We ended up spending three years restoring a 1990 42 revolution wit triple 850s. Every single thing is new or redone on the boat, but it was a huge pita. Just buy a boat that you will have nothing to do to it but enjoy it. It will always cost more and take more time than you think. Unless you have another boat to use while redoing it, then do yourself a favor and get a tiger wit 6s n big power.

you just answered your own question, it seems like your asking us to help you make up your mind, buy one turn key that you can use immediatly and have resale value, or buy one, tear it all apart for a year or so and have someone tell you "it's a 15 year old race boat thats been converted" I talked with Randy about this boat as well, for poker runs, nothing else...If your so worried about resale, then you need a stock powered 42 that will depreiciate less dollar wise, not % than one with big power and 6's, then you can hopefully resell it to someone that is moving up. Look at is a house, dont overimprove it, they may not have your same choice in shag carpeting.

You should buy the Red 41 Saber in the classifieds here on OSO, I am taking her to Cleveland this week. It's brand new and on a aluminum myco.

Thanks to all.My original plan was (if the price was right )to purchase the boat now,run it for the summer (as is) and restore next winter.

The one Ocean Performance (on the board for 200.000.00)is brokering supposidely shows new.The only thing it would need is an extended cockpit (from a 3 to a 6 man bolster)Definately something to consider. The problem once again is for the same money i can get a much newer 6 drive Tiger that (resale wise )would probably be a better fit for me .anyway.
