O-one must be speechless!

Good to meet you at LOTO Randy, thanks for coming over and saying hello. Good luck with your new ride; very, very nice.

Sea Trial

Before I get into any details I have a few people to thank:

1. To all of you who responded to the "which new Cig" question. The 39/700 boat is incredible.

2. Randy and PM203 for pointing me in Phil's direction.

3. Harold at Grafikworx for the many schemes he generated and the unbelievable paint on the boat.

4. To Neil and all the rest at Cig...you guys build an awesome boat.

4. To Tim at Cigarette...on the difference between a Cig and a Donzi "I get it now...boy do I get it".

5. And last but certainley not least Phil, Vanessa and all the Lip-Ship boys for keeping me pointed and making it easy. The result is stunning to say the least.

As I stood on my dock Saturday after rinsing her off it finally hit me. It's not about the speed or the incredible ride and it certainley isn't about showing off an new ride...it's really all about the pride of ownership. The whole experience coupled with the end result is truly priceless. I truly wish you all have an opportunity to experience the feeling...indescribable.

Now for the good stuff...she ran 104'ish right out of the box. 1/2 tank of fuel, Philly and I on a steamy hot day. Phil asks me if I want to go out...hell yea, so out Haulover we go...he's running 65-75 in 4-5 footers...what a ride; man that guy can drive; turns the boat around and here comes some big Apache (Broken Arrow, 47', big trip power?); Phil looks at me and says "you picked a good fight", so we come along side, he hammers it, Phils hammers it...she spools up and we're gone. Turn back around and Phil says "I guess he doesn't want to play any more". We were both grinning from ear to ear. That was Wednesday, the boat arrived at LOTO Friday afternoon. (Thanks to Phil for working is butt off to get her wrapped up tight and shipped). First 20 minutes some guy in a mid 30's Baja wants to run, he got it pegged, it's loud and he's running about 75, I ease along side, scrunched down like I'm trying to cheat the wind, look over then hammer it, she spools up and what seemed like 2 seconds later I'm doing about 95 and no more Baja...that mid-range acceleration is sooo strong. I ran her Saturday with the wife and boys on board, we ran all over at 55-65 in the really rough stuff and even the wife was stunned at the ride quality while the boys were high fiving in the back.

Now all I have to do is learn how to handle this beast...WOW! (If I could only drive half as good as Phil I'd truly be blessed).

Congrats on the new ride! Boat looks awesome!!

Pretty impressive to be able to blow by a 47 Apache with triple 1200hp Chief Turbos that goes 114mph and weighs 22,000lbs.

LostCowboy 09-05-2007 09:41 PM

Fantastico! Going to Key West in November?

Like I wrote "He didn't want to play". The mid-range accelration is so quick we jumped him good. I'm sure if he had kept it cranked it would have been a different story.

I doubt that a triple 1200 hp boat with turbos runs 114 consistently. Not putting the boat down, but with that kind of power, you cannot expect it to run 114 every day of the week .

Son of a Gun 09-06-2007 02:26 PM

Nice looking ride, congratulations.

Trust me bro the boat does 114. Ask anyone in the Apache forums. The motors have 150hrs on them and it's still going 111mph. Tommy's turbos are like no other!! Me and Naughty Kitty went for a ride with Tommy last year in Key West and were running 105 at maybe 5000 rpms and on 93oct.

I am not bashing the new Cig at all. It is a sick ride!! Wish I had one but talk about the boat and it's ride and not that you beat up on other boats especially a 47 Apache and in 4 to 5s.

And I think we all know what would happen if he really wanted to play!!!!

Again Congrats on the new ride!! It's one of my favorite paint jobs this year!! Let us know what you top at!! MPH that is.

If we do it will be in Marco Island but we haven't decided yet.

I wasn't doubting the speed at all. What I was trying to say is that some of these exotic/ big powered boats run better on some days than others and their speed may vary depending on how good or bad they are running that particular day.

Thanks for the kind comments on the paint. It really shows up close as there is a lot of ghosting in the blue.

I referenced the Apache in an effort to describe the mid-range acceleration on the Cig. not to insult the other boat; the description of events is accurate; it would serve no purpose otherwise. All I can say is that we didn't run very far before he backed off and the separation was significant. Also consider who was driving the Cig; as Phil would say "It may go 111...but not today". As for me, it will be a long time (maybe never) before I could drive like that.

The Cig ran 103-104 in the bay.

We cruised with a rr for a little while on Sunday. We had my boat, a Top Gun and the Rider heading to Braun bay (3 across) when we had to slow down due to the marine patrol cutting across our path. Almost looked like a brochure shoot there for a while.:D
