I've only seen one Bullet that didn't have them....and it wasn't used much. Before I bought my Top Gun, I called and talked with Craig Barrie and Scott Smith. Scott told me exactly where to look in the cabin (at the foot of the berth) and he assured me that it would have some cracks there. He was right. It was explained to me that they are not structural and it's a result of square angles and the flexing of the boat.

That being said, you HAVE to get a survey and have the transom, stringers and bulkheads checked out!!!!!!!! They are a different story!!!

That pretty much summed it up.

I looked at a Bullet this past weekend at LOTO and it had a crack in the deck right where the right side steps up. Is this a common issue for Bullets? Have you guys experienced this?

Thanks!

Was that the maroon one at Double Diamond Brokers?
What kind of condition was it in? Just curious
because I had called on that one.

Yep, that's it. I'm far from being a boat expert, but it seemed pretty solid, from what I can tell. I made mention here of the crack on the deck and I'm told that's pretty normal. I believe the exterior was repainted, and it seemed like a good job. The dash was painted white, and I felt that was a bit sloppy. Trim pieces that should have been removed weren't. The cabin seemed to be in good shape.... not updated, but good condition for original. The engines were supposedly rebuilt by Advanced Marine at LOTO a few years ago (5-10 years, I believe). They list them at 420, but the broker feels they're probably more like 450+. Since he can't prove this, he lists them as 420.
This is definitely cheaper than most Bullets, and the reason is that it's closer to original. Not as many updates as a lot of the other boats out there. I'd be curious what a survey would tell.

I'd like to see a survey on it also. It's been for sale all summer.

Anyone here know anything about it???

Don't mean to hijack the thread, I'm just curious.

Wayne - I ran across this. Check out the Bullet 48 seconds in. I am guessing that is the one you speak of in Norway/Sweden but figured I'd post it anyways in case it wasn't.

That's the one. I may not like the all red, but it sure makes it easy to spot!

Hollowpoint 12-04-2007 09:22 AM

I did a couple of poker runs last year, and the DVD's on both had several wide angle helo clips of like card stops, marinas, etc. and all the mainly white boats were for the most part looking the same and were hard to tell apart, except the red one with the BULLET on top! :)

Seaford, I hope you can get to some of them next year. I would recommend the Ocean Marine PR, the Jammin on the James PR, and ESPECIALLY the Rendevous PR.

Check out Randy Nuzzo's site on the 8-18 date and check out the air that the boats were getting!

Hollowpoint 12-10-2007 08:16 AM

Also, not to toot Cigarette's horn, but the 1st to all card stops was a Top Gun. There was a poker run Fountain with a semi-enclosed cockpit, but he didn't even MAKE all the stops. I guess I was about 10th or 11th by the Ruddee inlet ocean leg stop. Not bad for an old boat out of about 65 entries. Most fun I've ever had with clothes on!

The one with the tribal graphics http://www.offshoreonlyclassifieds.c...o19713-en.html is a nice ride. I spent three hours on it a little over a week ago. Jerry at Grand Sport in Chicago hooked me up with the owner at the Florida Alabama border and the hospitality from both parties was overwhelming. Beautiful boat. Ran an indicated 75 without any trouble in the Gulf. The new drives and stout motors pulled me out of the ice in STL to take a look. It ran and idled as well after 3 hours as it did from cold. Ultimately Momma won out on cosmetics and I am almost the proud owner of a different '88 Bullet. Soon, very soon.

Anyway, the red/blk tribal boat is scheduled to be moved to Chicago sometime around Christmas. Again, dealing with the owner and Grand Sport Center was a pleasure. After 10 minutes in Florida, I thought I had known this gent for years. A class act.

Hollowpoint 12-18-2007 07:44 PM

Pre-congrats
It is a sweet looking ride!

WMF 12-20-2007 10:21 PM

I am still looking for a Cigarette Bullet or a 28 Apache, any new ones out there for sale? Please let me know. The older Apaches are hard to find, I think Clay has one of the nicest Bullets I have seen.

Hollowpoint 12-21-2007 06:47 AM

Donzi,
I thought the one with the tribal graphics wasn't a bad price. The only other one on OSO seems to be priced way too high (you could buy a decent Cafe for that price). Any luck selling yours yet? Do you have a specific price range?

WMF 12-21-2007 08:12 AM

I sold both of my Donzi's last week, my 18 Classic went to Canada, and the Donzi 26 is leaving for Tampa Florida next week, It was sold to a OSO member. I took a loss on the Donzi 26 ZX

Hollowpoint 12-21-2007 08:37 AM

So I guess it's serious time for you now and you have until next spring? Do you have a price range and what you expect? If you can spend a little more, and I was me looking, I would give Carter31 or Steve a call. A bullet with around 600hp a side and 80+/- mph would be a super sweet ride!
I went the cheap route, and have to save money here and there for my various upgrades, which now that I'm a project boat owner, will probably take several years. This is not a problem, and I understood it when I bought it. The only good advice I can give about buying a boat that needs to be upgraded is buy a running project. That way, you can enjoy it during the season, and work on it over winter. I know I'd be REALLY depressed if I bought a boat that wouldn't see water for a few years.

So, what exactly are you looking for, price and engine wise?

Clay Washington 12-21-2007 08:43 AM

There is nothing better than a "turnkey" boat. Just hop in and go! :D

Y'all have a very merry Christmas! :ernaehrung004:

WMF 12-21-2007 08:48 AM

I am looking for a boat in the price range of 40-60 K, big HP, turn key, that may need some upgrades, I need a project, It gets boring here in the winter, and I am tired of Drinking everynight, and I need something to wast my money on, my last boat was perfect and needed nothing and I got board of it very quickly, plus it was not that fast, but rode great. I sold my very cheap because of the market and I just wanted something new to play with, so if I find the right deal, right price, I am ready to jump on it now.

Very well said.

Screamineagle 12-21-2007 07:05 PM

Lakeluvr, Carter31, Steve , and Clay all have 19/20 year old boats that show as new. I have been in two of them and seen extensive pictures of the others both before and after (I think there was a boat in some of Clay's pics???) and to most boaters eyes, they are new boats. It's only the obsessive Cigarette people who will ever know those boats are well on their way to a quarter century old.

With that being said, this forum has taught me volumes on the constant attention necessary to maintain that new look and even the most turnkey Bullet or any other older boat is going to be a lot more than just changing the fluids and filling them with fuel. I am sure spending an hour or two with any of the above mentioned members as well as the previous Bullet owners on here and you will see the dedication required to keep father time at bay. So I would imagine, if you had a Bullet, there is always going to be something you see that could turn into "this years project".

I've always loved that one. I thought it was sold. What's the power?

No, I still have it I just don't have it listed do to the the boat market being so bad. It has 454's in it but they are built pretty healthy it runs low 70's.

Hollowpoint 12-26-2007 12:57 PM

Donzi26Zx,

First, you need to change your name, Donzi in a Cig Forum?

The one shown in the above thread by Carter31 looks like a sweet ride. I've seen several pics of it and it's been updated and looks super clean. Depending what he wants for it, it may fit your budget. You could use it this coming year while you make plans for engine updates, and update engines in it next winter.
