Default Cig Top Gun Noise reduction?

Hi guys,

The top gun was taken out the first time in australia today. It was unbelievable fun. The water was about 4-5 ft chop and the hull just carved through it.

The unique paint job had everybody staring at it.

As you guys know i've had a million dramas with bringing it in and today I discovered a new one.

The engines were absolutely roaring...and I have been warned by a tonne of people especially at the marina that water police will pull my boat off the water for noise pollution.

Infact my dads been in boat building for 40 years building 100mph jet boats and he went to the pier to see it and said he'd never heard a boat as loud in his life and said the cops will get it.

What do you do to make them quieter? I've seen pics of cigs with mufflers on the exhausts.

Where do you get them? How do they cost? How much will the noise be reduced? Are they hard to install? Will I loose much power?

Thanks fellas and thanks again

Gibson sells those turn down pipes that divert the exhaust down into the water when you're idling (in the harbor) then are unrestricted when you're up on plane.

Hi Tank,

Are those the pipes that actually go down to the water line? I hope not because the look shocking. how do you go in California with your exhausts? Arent the laws for noise pretty harsh there?

HPI makes a nice muffler for your boat. Don,t put those ugly donkey dong things on unless you have to.

Yea, they go down into the water line when the boat is still or at idle. Once on plane they are out of the water. virtually silent until out of water, then it's normal.

I have the capt call exhaust on our cig. but I never use it. They dont sweat us up here. Down in Newport they're pretty strict but it's still not as bad as it sounds out there.
