the bell housing on a 700/ NXT is much like a bravo and allows the rear engine to be mounted further back, the transmission on the rear engine is actually in the transom assy, thus the ability for a full stagger

i know that, I owned a 700/NXT boat. That is why I’m saying the 700/NXT 39’s are full stagger but the 850/1075 #6 39’s cannot fit a full stagger and are therefor built as short stagger boats.

Correct 850 and 1075 are short stagger, I was only talking about 700 with 6’s being full. Mercury not making the 700 anymore is really going to affect the 39. The only option right now is the 565, which is a total waste of a great hull. 860’s won’t fit and 1100’s are probably too fast. It’s amazing how mercury can have such a bearing on what is built.

I spoke with an application engineer at Mercury and he doesn't understand why 860's wouldn't accommodate a full stagger, he did however acknowledge that the 860's are taller and that the hatch might need a redesign.
