hey guys former sonic owner here you probably saw this boat like i did on the oso classifieds i was sold without ever seeing the boat added a/c, 3k watt power inverter, 4 batteries, swim platform and big stereo. Love the boat looks as good as it runs what craftsmanship. Downside got stuck with a screwed up trailer that was custom built from extreme trailers out of miami my cig dealer says tough $hit deal with extreme anyone else have this problem? If so did the dealer u bought it from take resposibility or did you have to go back on the trailer manufacturer? I hear this is a common problem when you do not buy a myco.
We may have seen some of you at key west we tied for first and drew high card for second what a great run we will be back next year and also destin.

Sorry to hear about your trailer problems. The boat does look awsome though, Love the colors and paint job.

J-Bonz 01-26-2008 01:47 PM

Great rig................................. FYI, I think your truck needs some performanc enhancers in the back

offshoredrillin 01-26-2008 01:47 PM

lucky strike 01-26-2008 01:54 PM

pm203 01-26-2008 01:58 PM

Nice looking TG !! Good luck with it.

Sydwayz 01-26-2008 02:00 PM

That is a VERY sharp Top Gun.

EXCELLENT trailer made only 20 minutes from you in this thread:

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...d.php?t=168781

I've seen this trailer, and everything indicates its BETTER than the Myco as far as strength and design, which I know is a strong and controversial statement. Its worth checking out. (Read the whole thread before you dispute.)

liquid prozac 01-26-2008 02:20 PM

its's quite a list drillin first they built a bow catcher that was a foot above the top of the boat we rigged a temp to get it home then 30 min after picking up the rig in chicago i am broke down on the side of the road with no brakes $500 and hrs later we figured out the left out a bleeder screw given it was 10 pm you see where thats going. So I take the trailer to florida and tim from cig notices the rear tire worn out bad alingment or bad rear axle so I leave it for 5 days come back and and load the boat and the bow catcher is now even with the front eye hook on the painted area of the bow and it puts an 8 in scratch on my boat. After waiting about 4 hrs i am told to leave the boat as there is no bow catcher at this time and they are in the process of removing the fender that was bent. They tell me you need to leave it with us so we can get cig to fix the paint (two trips two breakdowns) and will bring it to you next week then 3 weeks later i get a call they want me to pay 1500 plus the 500 in previous repairs to get the boat back to me or come back to florida and get it yourself. And it still does not fit right and looks like a five year old mounted an rv toolbox on it with two little L brackets. Should have demanded a myco per cig!

liquid prozac 01-26-2008 02:25 PM

Sydways i have been in that exact shop having brakes put on mt sonic's rocket trailer I even called them to see if they could fit the boat to the trailer. I think the rear boards are too low you load and when you piull out the bow pops up about 6 in from the bow catcher.

Comanche3Six 01-26-2008 02:40 PM

Congratulations!
Best of luck!

Is the trailer new? Did it come with a warranty book? Check out the warranty and call them to the carpet on it. Of course if you have a crap builder like I did, Instigator Trailers from Houston SUCKS!!, they won't do anything to help you. Document everything, and take them to court. My trailer was only a little over $4000, and I was able to resolve the problems to my satisfaction through my bank. You could have some good options if they don't honor their warranty though. If they won't come through, talk to a lawyer.:angry-smiley-038:

GLH 01-26-2008 04:39 PM

Sweet ride but you have to get rid of the trailer side marker thinghy... No self respecting Cig owner needs those

liquid prozac 01-26-2008 05:04 PM

hell ya it's new just like the boat i bought both from a dealer as a package and they say i have to deal with extreme and he hangs up the phone and pretty well says go Fu#$ yourself. I think the dealer should honor the problem and sue the trailer co HE bought from i bought the complete set up! Kind of like buying a new car and they tell you have to get the frame warrantied from the manuf in china.

ciaoderhead 01-26-2008 06:41 PM

If the dealer is selling those trailers he should step up too. Sounds like both need a lesson in business 101. Who is the Dealer so we can stay away from both:angry-smiley-038:

liquid prozac 01-26-2008 07:06 PM

not trying to bash just stating the facts grand sport s center chicago the one with the 08 tg posted today by baja 34 or something like that. Sad thing is this is the website where i found my boat! And I see the oso boat on the big poker runs, its a shame that a bad dealer or manufacturer can spoil what could have been the most expensive and happiest days for a certified boat junky's life to date except for the hot wife of course.

That's what I thoght when I first read this....the boat part at least. No comment on the wife part:party-smiley-004:

offshoredrillin 01-26-2008 08:52 PM

Sorry to hear it, I would have to say get the Myco, or a manning. i love my myco. I would call the boat dealer and the trailer company and inform them that you have started a thread to warn people of the crappy service being as they both have decided to ignore it. This community will back you.

Sydwayz 01-27-2008 09:48 AM

If I were you, I'd have a new McClain C-channel trailer built; and then sell the original trailer for as much as you can.

Fix it up, and sell it here on OSO. Every few weeks someone is looking for a trailer, and often for a Top Gun. With a couple quick mods it will fit a straight bottom Top Gun as well.

Jassman 01-27-2008 09:58 AM

Beautiful boat, really love the paint. Trailer, I hate to add to it, but sell it, and order a Myco. Yes you will loose money but less headaches in the long run will ease your mind when traveling to PR and let you enjoy that new boat better. Ive had a few friends this year loose their trailer tires on the way to PR's and when it happened it could have been alot worse. All were different brands. Ive had 4 Myco's, their the best out there. Good Luck. JEFF

And what ? Pass on a POS trailer to another OSO brother ?
Thanks but no thanks .

I don't think he's saying pass on a POS to another member. I think he's saying the trailer CAN be made right if someone wants to take the time to do it. It just shouldn't be LP's problem to get it fixed. But if he wanted to say f*ck it, and buy a new trailer. I think someone would buy his trailer from him knowing the axles need to be aligned, and the bunks need to be adjusted for a new boat as well as righting the bow stop.

Sh!t, I'll trade you straight across for my 3 year old So. Florida aluminum right now!:D:D

greg bakker 01-27-2008 04:43 PM

Nice boat lets see more pics congrats ! Greg

Hell no. Folks know me better than that. Sell it for what it is. crb76 sold his Nextrail that had a myriad of issues for 1/2 of its street value after he built his McClain. C-Spray was trying to find a rudimentary trailer just to take his boat indoors for the winter. Many people look for trailers just for in & out maintenance and/or winter storage. As long as the bunk system is sound and supportive, its fine for any of these tasks.

1bagger 01-27-2008 08:42 PM

I don't see why LP has to sell this trailer much less fix it .
If its new the dealer should stand up for him . I hate when people get away with building less than acceptable products and saying " tough " when someone complains .
I'm a little sensitive on this because I see some of my competition Homebuilders get away with kind of crap .
This trailer manufacturer should do whatever is needed to get this customer satisfied . Maybe the dealer can give LP a Myco and take the problem trailer on trade and sell it for what it is .

liquid prozac 01-27-2008 09:22 PM

They did replace the axle when i took it to miami and i am sure the trailer can be adjusted to fit but as you said it should not be at my expense much lell the $2k it has already cost me. I think grand sports should buy the trailer back and get me a myco or pay what it will cost to get it right and sue the crap out of the guy that built the trailer but hell I 'm only the customer that dropped about 400K for a new baot and trailer why should I be complaining right! Thanks for your support and as soon as this weather gets a little better we will have some better pics!

Great lookin TG!!!!

Love the ride...congrats! Keep the pics coming.

Top Ven 01-28-2008 12:28 PM

Thats too bad, u think buying new for that much 400 K, u would not have these problems !!!!!

Tom A. 01-28-2008 12:50 PM

Trailers to boat dealers are like upgrading wheels to car dealers. If it is on the lot, you take what comes with it and if you want something different that is fine but we wont buy your original ones back especially after the deal is made.
I know you will take a hit but the best thing to do is order a good trailer built for your boat; Myco, Eagle, etc... Sell the one you have, there are a ton of people looking for a good lesser quality trailer. Don't compromise the well being of your boat because of losing a few dollars. When you think about it, with the amount of money we spend on our boats, is 5% of the cost of the boat too much to spend on a good trailer being it spends alot of its life resting there and we rely on it to transport our boats safely.

By the way that is a kick azz looking Cig.

I'm curious to know who you are dealing with over there.

hangem out 2dry 01-31-2008 07:21 AM

I Recently Bought An 01 38 Top Gun That Was In Md But Had No Trailer,so The Search Began.i Had A 2 Week Span To Get It Home Because Of Work And Was Pressed For Time To Find A Trailer.i Live In Louisiana And It Was A 20 Hour Trip One Way.i Called Many Trailer Co. And Because Of The Time Frame I Went With Instigator (as#$%$&&$le) Trailers.i Have To Give Him Credit On The Quick Turnaround Time But Here Is Where I Got The Shaft.i Wanted To Make A Drive Guard So I Asked For Him To Make The Side I Beams 3 Feet Longer Than The Rear Of The Transom.he Said To Get An I Beam That Long I Would Have To Up Size From A 7 To 8 Inch
I Beam For An Extra Price Of $865.00 I Agreed And Sent A Deposit And The Trailer Was Ready A Week Later.i Ordered Every Possible Extra So The Trailer Was Actually Nice.so We Were On Our Way To Md To Get Our 38. When We Got There And Tried To Put The Boat On The Trailer We Found Our Extra 3 Feet.he Had Mounted Everything Forward 3feet To Make It Appear Longer.oh And Did I Forget To Mention The The Total Price Was $2800.00 More Than Originally Quoted. He Said He Forgot To Add In The Charge For The Different Brakes And Axles.it Took Six People 8 Hours To Move Every Thing Back 3 Feet And Re Adjust It All Just To Be Able To Get The Boat Home.needless To Say He Wont Return My Calls Or Even Answer The Phone.so Right Now The Trailer Is All Apart In My Shop So That Every Thing Can Be Remounted In The Right Place To Fit The Hull. Needless To Say I Am Not A Happy Camper.so Please Dont Get Fu$%ed By Bret At Instigator Trailers (who Is The Owner) When We Are Finished With The Trailer I Will Post Some Before And After Shots

liquid prozac 01-31-2008 08:18 AM

Was dealing with Joe the owner of extreme trailers and mark the owner of grand sports center. Not actually working with anyone at this point they both pretty well say tough $hit. I have filed a small claims court suit against grand sports center because that is who i actually bought from.
