24 Cigarette on e-bay
#12
What do you mean by handful? It didn't handle well in general? It didn't handle that power? Too much rocker provided too much bow lift? Was your bottom out of the same mold as the older ones? I am not doubting you, I just want all of the information I can get from people with actual hands on experience with these boats. It is really hard to find because there don't seem to be many of the 24 Cigs around.

I had 1 24 Cig back in 84. It was a 1973, and it had the teak deck and engine hatch. It origionally came with a pr. of straight 6's, the chevy 250 cu. in. and alph's. The 250's were swapped for the taller deck truck 292 cu.in. We added solid lifter cams, holley 4 bbl carb, and thru the hull exhausts. Spun a pr. of 3 blade 23 pitch cleavers, and topped out at 68 light on fuel, 2 people.
Sold that boat in 89, and it's still somewhere in chicago stuffed into a warehouse. Never seen it again.

Vee is a little shallow 22-22.5 degree strakes are small. Rocker probably worked on a TRS boat. If you measure them the port side is longer to the gunnel from the V then the starboard is. Runs good into and with them tough in a side sea. Looks very similar to a Corsa rides very different.

Strakes on original 24's are the same as the 28SS. Did your 24 have an 8 foot beam or 7 foot? Nice looking paint job...sharp boat.
I have raced a 24 with 800 HP in it and won races in the rough water of Key West....old Key West, out to Dry Tortugas and back.
There are some original brochures of the 24 on the banana boat co website that gives the specs of the boat under the heritage section. There is also a recap of the story on how it came to be under products section.
