24 Cigarette on e-bay

24 Cigarette on e-bay item # 230220881506

This was hull # 3 of the original series from Cigarette.

Would make a nice resto with someone.

Lip Ship could do the super resto finish work they do, if someone wanted an original small Cigarette, to go along with their big boat....much easier on gas too.

olredalert 02-09-2008 05:12 PM

------T/B,,,Is that the Cigarette that originally would have had the teak deck and hatches??? It appears to have a sunken area for the teak to lay down in but I cant tell for sure.......Bill S

Yes, the teak was on both front deck and rear hatch originally,

There is a ridge around the lip of the deck. Don later left off the teak and just had the deck plain for a different look.

Either way, it is an original hull # 3, as you can see by the plaque in the photos.

------ Thanks, I thought so. Those 24s were and are very good looking. I like my 24 DONZIs (El Pescador and Spitfire) as I think they are a little drier ride, but this Cigarette would be a close second. The low serial # is cool as well!!!........Bill S

I think Hot Duck was looking at this boat about a year ago in Pompano or surrounding area and someone purchased it before I could take pics for him???

WILL:D

Hot Duck 02-11-2008 01:21 PM

Yep, that is the same boat. I am watching it on e-bay now to see what happens. You could buy a relatively new Donzi 22 Classic, Pantera 24 or something similar for what it would cost to bring this boat back to life, but this Cigarette is unique and it has a full 8' beam. It could be cool. I am thinking a 525/XR and the interior and details like Lip-Ship has done with a few of the 20' Cigs. It really could be an awesome little boat.

Ryan Beckley 02-11-2008 03:40 PM

What do you mean by handful? It didn't handle well in general? It didn't handle that power? Too much rocker provided too much bow lift? Was your bottom out of the same mold as the older ones? I am not doubting you, I just want all of the information I can get from people with actual hands on experience with these boats. It is really hard to find because there don't seem to be many of the 24 Cigs around.

I had 1 24 Cig back in 84. It was a 1973, and it had the teak deck and engine hatch. It origionally came with a pr. of straight 6's, the chevy 250 cu. in. and alph's. The 250's were swapped for the taller deck truck 292 cu.in. We added solid lifter cams, holley 4 bbl carb, and thru the hull exhausts. Spun a pr. of 3 blade 23 pitch cleavers, and topped out at 68 light on fuel, 2 people.
Sold that boat in 89, and it's still somewhere in chicago stuffed into a warehouse. Never seen it again.

I'd venture to say anyone that completely restores this boat isn't stressed about gas prices. :D

Steve

sounds like it may be a good candidate for a blackhawk

Steve

I have no idea where the mold you used came from.....the original Cigarette 24 had a 24 degreee V all the way to the stern.

Strakes on original 24's are the same as the 28SS. Did your 24 have an 8 foot beam or 7 foot? Nice looking paint job...sharp boat.

I have raced a 24 with 800 HP in it and won races in the rough water of Key West....old Key West, out to Dry Tortugas and back.

There are some original brochures of the 24 on the banana boat co website that gives the specs of the boat under the heritage section. There is also a recap of the story on how it came to be under products section.

The original brochure shows the boat as having twins...the boat for sale has a single cutout?

Someone since 1972 converted it to a single.

omerta one 02-12-2008 07:35 PM

If you were going to keep it and restore it would you go single or twin?

fabricator 02-13-2008 10:43 AM

Interesting that no one has bid on it yet. Doesn't it have any value to someone?

northernoffshore 02-13-2008 10:56 AM

Hey 10X was your boat grey in color? The Thunder 25 was taken off a grey one with twin 6cyl. motors?

Jammin' 02-13-2008 12:32 PM

Here's the $64 question. How soon does it need to go away after it's paid for?

Here is that bad mamma jamma that smiklos had made and some pics of a 24 that another OSO member bought a couple of months ago.

boatnuts 02-13-2008 03:22 PM

I have what I believe is the first in this hull series #24711201
Due to the state of the the deck, I am in limbo on the resto on it. None the less I have amassed a pile of new hardware, engine, drive, rub rail, new tank, etc (literally everything required to rerig it).

tommymonza 02-16-2008 10:04 AM

There is a mint 24 sitting on a lift in Wiggins Pass in Naples .It is dark blue and all original with the straight sixes and big car interior.

I keep saying i am going to go by and take some pics but never seem to have the camera when i am down there.

boatnuts 02-19-2008 09:18 AM

would love to see those pics if you ever take them "tommymonza"

tommymonza 02-24-2008 12:59 AM

Went and took them the other day, i will load them tomorrow.

The 24s are too unique and cool not to do a twin restore in my opinion.Maybe would have to go with some stroker small blocks instead of the inline sixes for a little speed though.

boatnuts 03-10-2008 02:13 PM

I have a brand new 6.2L (383 stroker) Bravo 1 sitting here in a crate ready for mine if I can ever come up with a deck.

tommymonza 03-10-2008 02:30 PM

Do you have a deck or is it shot?

THEJOKER 03-10-2008 02:32 PM

Miklos's F1 ran 84 mph w/ a single hp 500 carb. It was a handful though.

boatnuts 03-10-2008 03:49 PM

TommyMonza - the deck on mine is shot - it really is frustrating because I have brand new everything on hand to dress and rig it - as well, I believe it is the very first of the series.

24degrees 03-11-2008 05:31 AM

That boat in Naples is near perfect!!......why these classics don't get more press is beyond me!
