The best car / truck to tow a Top Gun

The Range Rover will not be up to the task. I prefer atleast an F-350 Ford or larger.

I have a ford 350 dulley. Pulls a topgun no problem!!!

Not only is a Range Rover not enough, it's about only half enough. A fully loaded gun (fuel, junk, trailer) is some serious weight.

Having pulled my Cafe Racer for a summer I can honestly say that in my opinion you would be nuts to be in anything less than an F350, Chevy 3500, or Dodge 3500 DUALLY.

That boat/trailer combo has to be over 14,000 lbs. A 3/4 ton pickup is rated less than that but will do the job OK. No 1/2 ton vehicle/sport utility is going to STOP that load very well. (I don't really care how long it takes to get the load moving forward, stopping is what's important). A range Rover has to be rated well under 10,000 lbs and would be unsafe at any speed outside of a parking lot.

Bottom line is a 3/4 ton truck is no better than pulling with the Range Rover if/when something goes wrong.:hitfan:

If the vehicle isn't rated to tow the weight your insurance company will DENY the claim and you leave yourself wide open to a serious law suit. Buy the correct tow vehicle for the job and avoid the potential litigation and make your towing much easier. Like I've said before, since we got our dually, my wife has no problems hopping behind the wheel when towing.

I would disagree. I got hit towing a Topgun and ended up losing control and rolling. I moved to a Freightliner and just last year got smacked towing a 40 Excalibur on the interstate. I destroyed the side of the truck that changed lanes into me and the FL barely even moved. It also sustained less than $100 in damage.

Obviously the FL is WAY bigger but an F350 is WAY bigger than the Rover. Don't discount mass and stability. Or comfort- My white-knuckle experiences have disappeared since moving to the big truck.

I laugh when I see people jacking up their trucks and then wanting to tow max capacity with them. Stability will bail your ass out of a jam, why give it away?
