Default 20 Cigarette on 'The Highlander'

I saw it years ago and she's still there. Steve Forbes' Feadship 'The Highlander' has been docked in the Baltimore harbor the last few days. It also has a Donzi Hornet on the boat. I spoke to the crew and the 20 Cigarette was just repowered with a 350 MPI and a Bravo. It now has through - outdrive exhaust and a polished stainless steel block off plate where the through transom exhaust was. The crew said they got too many noise complaints. The boat has some great looking green-tinted gold sides, the boat looks new but is many years old.

Here is all I found on the yacts web site;

On board are a Bell Jet Ranger III helicopter, two tenders a 19-foot Cigarette and a 23-foot Donzi - and two BMW motorcycles

They've had the 20 Cig and Donzi for quite a while. Way back in the late 80's I was running around Bar Harbor Maine with my wife in our 18 Donzi when the 'Highlander' was docked in Northwest Harbor. We got to check it out up close and everything was impeccibly maintained.

Later in the day we ran into Malcolm Forbes and friends at Geddy's Pub. They were all riding matching green/gold Harleys.

Malcolm sure knew how to live and glad to see his son is carrying the torch well!

I have been on the Highlander several times - family friends and grandkids go to school with my kids. The goodies onboard are all kept in absolutely immaculate condition and when on deck you just kinda look around and wonder which one you would take for a ride first...chopper, cig, bmw...decisions decisions

btw it is not Steve's boat but company property and yes the old man did know how to collect (won't comment on live) and left behind a breathtaking art and artifact collection.

wife purchased a week in Forbes Wyoming ranch 10 minutes outside Jackson Hole at charity event Friday for $23k (sleeps 44)...she has her vacations and I have my boat life...fair is fair

Default Brownie already answered that in another thread.

Brownie already answered that in another thread. When he was at Cigarette they called them 19' until the Coast Guard notified the boating industry that everything under 20' would soon have to contain positive floatation. The Cigarette 19 instantly became the Cigarette 20.

As to BOATDADDY's comment that it's not Steve's boat but company property; just how many yachts do you think are registered in individual names? Liability and taxes dictate that most are corporate property or in the very least an LLC. In any case Steve gets to use it.... LOL

Must be a '72 if registered as a 19. I know of mine and 2 others from 72 and thought that there were only 3 of them made this 1st year?

Interesting.............any more info on these early boats.

The Highlander crew told me that they believe this boat is the very first 19 'Cigarette ever made. Not sure if that is so, but Malcolm Forbes had a string of five or so big yachts so he could have carried the boat over from a previous yacht.
