It is easy to say but when you are selling your boat you don't want some one insulting with an unfair price. I know the used boat market is soft and the whole gas thing but honestly don't buy it. I would like to see what you end up with in that price range. Take from someone who has been going through my 93 Cafe. Used boats need work so buy a cheap one and enjoy doing all the updating and repairs or buy one reasonably priced where someone has already spent the money and looking to recoupe a portion of their investment.

It's funny how John doesn't mention how I offered that if he paid for a survey I would be willing to split the difference. I thought that would be very fair. He did't trust my surveyor or the three cigarette dealers involved. Why is this so hard to believe this is a very nice boat for sale in a ****ty economy. I have read a few that didn't like that paint. I loved it all! I loved the colors, the paint, the interior, the power, the size. Everything was perfect for me. This isn't John's fault, but it's not mine either. FYI. The survey must have made some influence. The price has been lowered.

There was NO Contract to sign. I made it VERY Clear that it is contingent on a survey. For all of you who have never bought a house or boat that means if there is something in the evaluation that doesn't add up the deal is OFF.

The way we worked ours was we got pre-approved for financing up to a certain dollar amount. Told the bank we are looking for a 89-93 Cafe or Top Gun. They then gave us the amount i could work with. I then narrowed it down to the 2-3 boats i wanted to seriously consider (meaning pay for a survey on). After looking at the Cafe, we negotiated a price contigent on the water trial & survey. The survey was only used to document the condition of boat, not set any sort of financing values. If there would have been major issues found, i could have walked away.

I just talked to David the other day. He is an accredited and knowledgeable surveyor that knows Cigarettes. After some discussion he did share with me that he had just done a Bullet about a month ago that sounded to be in similar condition except didn't have the pretty flag graphic on it. His evaluation on that boat was $68,900. Which goes to prove that not every boat fits exactly in some kind of book range. I am considering having David do a survey on mine to get a second opinion.

A boat, or anything for that matter, is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. How, where, and who the money comes from is the buyers issue. whether the buyer has cash or needs financing the bottom line is that cash goes to the seller unless the seller takes back some paper on the deal. In the end, the buyer should have his ducks in a row and be prepared to do what it takes to make the dream come true. The desperation or confedence of the seller can either make the deal easyier or less flexable. Know what you are looking at and educate yourself ahead of time. Good communication between buyer and seller always makes the outcome smooth no matter what the result. Lots of people have paid more than appraised value for things because the purchace had a personnal value and many deals that were a steal are common too. BUY LOW, SELL HIGH don't we all we we could do that every time !!!! LOL!:rolleyes:
