Can ya believe a Cig owner told me this?
I have been boating all my life and 2 years ago got my first performance boat. Fountain... Nice boat, but not the best when it get rough. I'm now shopping for a better ride and have narrowed it down to Cigarette and Apache. I recognize that I don't have the bank account that a lot of boater have, but I also know that the amount of money in my pocket doesn't determine my passion, drive or desire.. I found a 31 cigarette that I really liked here on OSO and began negations with the seller, we agreed on a price, I got a survey done and to both of our suprise the value on the survey didn't support the purchase or a loan. The seller got so pissed at me and was determined that his was the nicest available and that the surveyor can't possibly know what he is doing. I tried very politely to tell him that I am not trying to tell him this boat isn't as nice as he feels it is. In fact I told him the reason I wanted it was that it was no nice and cared for. Anyhow I got to the point that I just simply told him " the value in the survey just won't support a loan. He exploded and told me " if you have to borrow money to buy and Cigarette, then I sound just go buy a Bay Liner". I have never been so offended by another boater. This boat is Hot, the seller is a bulldog. A note also: even if i did have the cash to pay for it, my loan from my credit union is 4.9% and after the interest deduction it's pretty cheap money. Anyone looking on OSO for a 31 cigarette, be careful of the bulldog.

there are plenty of nice cigs for sale at good prices right now. give us a price range and im sure we can help you find the right one. as far as mr. bulldog, maybe he needs to come to grips on what his boat is really worth especially in the current market. which bullet is it by the way?

Surveyors have been wrong on value. One's that don't really know high-performance boats are only guessing. Sometimes C/U's use only NADA which can be WAY off.
While how you pay for your boat is solely your business, I can only imagine the scenarios the seller could be experiencing right now. He may be out of work, have a sick kid or both- or lots of other things. He could also be a tool. If you really like the boat, PM Ed Cozzi- he can help point you in the right direction. There are lots of boats for sale right now so I wouldn't sweat it. Or the seller. |
How Much was he off? if i really loved the Boat, and it was only a few K s off, i might have gotten it, but if its off 15 k-20k than u did the right thing

I'd love to post the boat i am talking about here, but I can't be "that guy" if someone is looking to but a 31 cig listed on OSO pm me and I'll be happy to help. We were off by about 10% on our agreed price and the boat is listed for a bout 20% higher then the survey said.

Yeah... Clay would not sell his boat under priced with all positive things he's getting out (or in) that boat!!! I understand...:ernaehrung004:

I owe on my 18 Y.O. Cig!

How did the survey value compare to the nada value? I know when we were looking for ours, there were a couple out there that were going for $15k+ more than nada. I knew we couldnt afford them but hoping maybe in next couple yrs the market turns around.
