Congrats Tom A. on a great race!
Just got a phone call from Tom Abraham, back from the Don Arronow Memorial Race. Says the water was nice and the race was epic! Ran the Richie Zul powered, Lip-Ship 45 Maximus over averaging around 100mph and ran it back averaging 110 mph! I'm sure the old "Rio Roses" 45 Cig. felt right at home back on a race course.
On the return leg, 15 miles out of Miami with the big building looming in the distance, they ran into a mechanical issue, stopped to check it out and realized they blew a blower.
Tom, in a spirit that truly epitomizes the memory and spirit of Don Arronow, said, “F*CK IT!” and ran the boat at 60 mph on one motor to cross the finish line.
Congrats to Tom and his crew, Lip-Ship Performance and Richie Zul and all other participants on representing the drive, spirit and competitive nature that this race was to honor.
Tom had on board video of the race and there will be video of the run to follow.
Final results of the race are still pending.
