I think it has Airpacker's old motor in it if I remember correctly.

I think it is a splash of a Cigarette, not a 'real' cig per say. At least thats what I remember from the thread.

Do a search and find that thread.

Congrats on the new boat by the way!

i remember reading that. it was for sale on lake simcoe?

yep, Gord Brown's old boat. He has owned it for around 20 years I believe. The motor in the boat originally was in my powerplay. Its a gm crate performance short block properly clearanced and balanced by active engines. The heads are lightly ported merlin rec ports, the cam was custom ground by ultra dyne for the flow numbers and required rpm. The intake was a Victor jr. that I port matched to the heads( don't know if its still n there) as the past owner didn't want the dominator that was on the motor. He used a one piece holley 800 and a 2 inch tall 4150 to 4500 adapter. Kinda screwed up the torque curve a little. The bottom end had around 50 hrs when I sold it in 2001. No idea how its been cred for or maintained since then.

It originally dynoed at 547hp at 5400 rpm when built. Who knows now.

Where are you located?

Thanks for all the info. Yes, I bought it from Gord Brown. I live in Caledon, I am going to trailer it to Lake Ontario.

The engine has been detuned with a milder cam, Gord said that with the old cam, the engine was breaking. He estimates it is now more like 450hp. I have the original cam also, but I am not in a hurry to use it.

I am wondering how high I could reasonable take the engine rpm without compromising the reliability. I kept it to 3,200 the first time out.

Yes, I bought it at the auction at Crate's Marina.

Thanks. I can not find the thread, though I would really like to. I searched on combinations of Airpacker, 502, Cigarette, etc., but I could not find it, any hints would be appreciated.

I don't know. I am hoping that some of the posters here who know about it will clarify. How do you tell?

on the upper right hand corner of the transom there will be a set of letters and numbers either molded into the gel coat or stamped on a piece of metal screwed onto the boat. That is your hull ID #. The first three letters are the manufacturers "code". For example, all Cigarettes start with "CRT". If it doesn't start with CRT its not a cig. It's definately not a firefox because cig started making them in 86 and they only built a handfull of them, 12 or 13 I think. And its not the "classic" 24, you can certainly tell that by looking at it. I'm not knocking your boat, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it but I seriously question the authenticity of it being built by Cigarette Racing Team Inc.
If you post some more pictures of it I'm sure someone will be able to identify it.
Good luck with it.
