But just one clairification. I said I know of an engine builder who will build me a 540 carbed 600 hp engine for about 15K. If thats not for you then OK just trying to help some one out who may be interested.

I am not one to tell anyone how or who or when to spend their money. But I also dont want to see someone get ripped off by spend too much when it could be avoided.

show us an advertised price on those engines...or have the builder come on here and talk about the build sheets. Must be long blocks only. Oh by the way you can also spread this joy in the Baja forum.

LOL...
I'll tell you what... get back to me AFTER you have an engine built for you.
Experience speaks volumes.
I think that is what 4195 was basically getting at.
You can see that Wesco engines are more than $20k/ea.
And that does not include the headers on that boat.
Which could be 5k per engine.

Storm, I don't want to throw gas on the fire here, but I don't think $15k for a 600 - 650hp engine is out of line. I believe I could buy one in that range from a VERY reputable engine builder in our area that has built power for several high end boats on this board. The $15k would be not including headers of course. He may come on here a rebut what I've said, but with what I've seen in the past, I believe it to be very plausible.
