any one out there experiencing porpoising in a bullet? mine starts as soon as it planes off and continues up to 84mph. props are bravo 1 26p spining out. I need to use alot of tabs "380s" producing too much drag and loss in speed. any experience in helping to resolve will be greatly appreciated.

From what I've read and experienced, Bullets are prone to do that. However, mine does not porpoise at all at slow to medium speeds unless I trim the hell out of it. And that's without using any tabs.

If I try to get the last few out of it, or am running 60+, it will always porpoise on smooth water. I don't notice it much in chop or seas though.

What drives do you run and what RPM do you turn?

I had porposing with my 38 gun. I swapped the props to turn in for more stern lift and it helped a lot. Cost is zero and it's worth a try. They say it wont handle well around the docks like that but I can say that I have not had any issues. A touch of throttle helps a lot.

mine only does it in smooth water and trimmed way out. not a big deal.

running bravo 1 drives turning 5800rpm usually back off at 5500. it will begin porpoising even with a little trim?

That does seem to be a problem. I've always been able to stop the porpoising by dropping the drives some and never really have to use the tabs in smooth water. Maybe the indicator cables need adjusting? Like I said above (and I think if you did a Bullet search you will find this has been discussed before), I'm trimmed up pretty far before the Porpoising starts. To get the most speed from mine (70's), I'm trimmed up enough to be shooting about a 3' small rooster tail and it is porpoising then.

I cant speak for your Bullet however our 97 Kevlar cover girl Gun required 1/2" drive spacers and a bit of bottom hull work to fix the same problem.

Prior to the spacers If we didn't run 0 trim and a ton of tab it was like riding on flipper!

We also tested a half dozen props including Hydro's and the 30p Bravo I props where the best over all for our application.

Just by installing 1/2" spacers we saw a 90% difference in handling and with the bottom work we picked up 6 to 7 mph instantly.
