I wonder if it would be an easy work-around for a potential buyer to install a dual helm set-up with a lever like the OL's have... Then you could also have the center driver do the throttles with his/her right hand which most of us are accustomed to! :cool-smiley-026:
I love my center steer. If the passenger wants to get out, they don't have to climb over the seats or the dash. All you have to do is move over and let them out. No problem in the marina at all. If it is just the two of you in the boat you let them out of the seat before you approach the dock. No big deal. Also getting in and out of the boat on the stbd side is no different than a boat with split seats up front. Either way you still have a front seat against the stbd side of the boat. I know a lot of people don't like the center steer (aka homo seat) setup and I was not sold on it myself until I had it in the Apache. That boat sold me on center steer. Please don't get me wrong. I still love the split seat Cigs, but I also like the center steer. One person in this thread asked about resale value and I have to say that I certainly don't think the center steer will help the value. In fact, it may even hurt it because so many people don't like it. On the other hand, they are unique. As far as I know, all of the 39' center steers were built in 2005. I can't imagine that Cig wouldn't build you one if you wanted it, but I think they stopped using the center steer setup it because it was not good for sales. Again, it seems that most people don't like it, but those that do like it really love it. I obviously would not be discouraged from buying a boat because it was center steer. In fact, the center steer actually made me want the boat I have. |
Good story Duck!
Let me know when you want to take me on a ride in the ocean! I just booked KW for the 09 races- you better make it back down so we can get fugged up again! |

I bet the center steer makes for a much smoother ride sensation for the driver? A 6 man center steer 39, w/ no cabin (or a small one) & 700/NXT setup, could potentially be a hell of a poker run machine. |
