if you want a 100 point boat you may as well go buy a new one. all im saying is for 20 k i could make that boat look awsome. im not guessing at the prices as well. ive been there and done that too. you guys are taking this boat to the next level, it's not what i was saying. i'm saying that if you want a ts top gun for a good deal there it is and YES 20k can clean it up real nice, ive done it. AND there is NO history with this boat, not sunk, not a role over and didn't get struck in the side by another boat. does your boat have a scratch in the upolstry or a blemish in the carpet, maybe a nick in the paint somewhere? more than likely yes, so why not clean this rig up and enjoy, live with a few of the blemishes.

I'd have bought it at 80, since I happen to have a set of engines here that would work for the season while I got those re built and upgraded, and our upholstery talent here in TX is not very expensive. :ernaehrung004:

Let me preface by saying I've not seen this boat so the following is not a comment on this boat, only redoing a cigarette in general.
Interior $6-7K not including logos from Cigarette. Hatch Logos are $975 each and smaller ones are around $500. This is for a cockpit and carpet with padding. Figure about double if the cabin vinyl also needs redone. Engines, complete rebuild closer to $10K-$12K a motor boring them to 509s if you include new pumps, couplers, hoses, bilge pumps, starters, coils, plus wires, dyno time. Replacing everything, turn key back in the boat. Might as well upgrade them to 625 while you're in there. Maybe adds $1500 to the deal. Opps forgot the new props $1600 more. Paint and gel work, unlimited, but $3-$5K doesn't go far at all, in fact that will about get the trailer rash cleaned up off the bottom, any real paint and gel work and your at $10K before you blink, replace rub rail $1K No swim platform, a few more thousand. Drive rebuilds? All the steering & tab rams ok? How much more life do the control cables & Indicator cables have in them? $250 a piece installed. I am betting all the gauges are faded and need replaced. What $3K more not including time to replace? How the headers holding up after 650 hours. How is that electric door? They need rebuilt the tracks get f'ed up and the powder coat goes to hell in salt air. Speaking of powder coat, how are the rails around the hatch, bolster stands and dash & helm panels, they start to bubble even in good times due to electrolysis. So does the door frame. $20K to bring it to a 10, no way unless it's an 8 already AND you don't need a complete rebuild the engines, just a refresh. Oh and it doesn't say anything about a trailer but figure a minumum of $5k for a marginal trailer, $15-18K for a new myco? Now you can do the work yourself and save if you have the talent. I speak from experience, been there done that own a couple of the t-shirts. Take the most amount of money you think it will possibly cost, double it and you'll come in a couple thousand over that. To take a 6 or 7 boat and make it a 10 and I mean 10 you'll spend a minumum of $35K and probably closer to $45K with as new power. |

Mike, you've hit the nail on the head! Such a fine job of typing what most people have to learn the hard way.

i understand everyone now knows what this person paid for it but don't you think that is irrelivant? it doesn't matter what somone stole the boat for. if you didnt know it was purchased for 80k you would think it's a good deal and for a ts cig with merc power lip ship, i would say so. whoever bought the boat got a good deal, period. even at 100 it's alot cheaper than anything else out there.
This has happened to me before where boats I'm tying to buy are bought by someone and then flipped. It's frustrating, not that I don't understand everyone wants to make money. |
I dont think mentioning that it was a repo has any relevance to the boat. The lesson on this boat is that when opportunity knocks go get the thing. TS + Cig + blue (stock motors) + 100 = a killer deal.
