Sea-Dated - I agree with you, but moreover I am just tired of ever ****ing thread in the Cig section turning out the same - A pissing match over what boats are worth, and how they aren't worth that much, and a comparison of one boat to another, and why a certain boat isn't worth "x" - That boat has horrible dash paint, I don't like XR's, it doesn't have Merc Power, it DOES have Merc Power, it has aqua green gauge bezel's and I prefer powder blue, a light bulb was out in the cabin, 4 years ago it was run in brackish water for an afternoon, the previous owner is a GM guy and I like Fords - every thread deteriorates into this ****, with the underlying theme that our boats aren't worth anything.

Hopefully when summer comes we will have better stuff to talk about, and everyone will have found the perfect boat at the absolute lowest price.

I am sure by then my ****ty Cafe Racer will have depreciated to a market value of about 10k but who cares - I will have used it and enjoyed it.....
Well said. I was not talking to one person but rather several who appear to be lifetime shoppers rather than buyers. I actually stopped visiting the Cig section for a while because of all the pricing crap and I see some things never change. I wish those people would just stay out of our section.

I am on the same page as you with my Cafe'. According to some it is only worth $30K since it is a 91 but I could care less what they say. I love it, it is not for sale and they can all piss off in my opinion.

30K? Sold, haha.

I think part of it is the fun to speculate on what you can get for your money, as it is really, really hard to judge with all the "secrecy" of deals out there. As someone trying to get a boat, I definitely think there's plenty of value in these older rides (the good ones) and hope they hold that value going forward. I don't think they'll go up with a good economy because of gas, they'll be older, etc, but good boats still hold their worth I think.

I just want to get a good Cig, and get on the water, without eating nothing but ramen.

Default Housing and Boats

One of the nastiest habits that arose from the housing bubble was the question from an aquaintance "How much did you pay for it", closely followed by "How much can you sell it for". NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

I'm on the buying side as well and I'm happy this community doesn't spill their guts on their boat deals. Its none of my business. One day hopefully sooner than later I'll have cash in hand and I will expect privacy from the seller on whatever we figure out.

My question is:

If the seller has no say in the matter, then why are so many that share the opinion you posted, still boatless? I could understand if boats were consistently selling for these lowball offers, but they're not? The same people that swear they know how to buy, and what the market is, are still being denied? It almost sounds like the ones shopping think everyone selling are being forced to, and have to take any offer?

AMEN to that! Sellers has no say are you serious??? Give me a break not all sellers are in position that they have take any offer they get, as result they can sit on it until the right person comes along and offers them the asking price for the product they are selling.

i'll tell you what, as a buyer looking at a Cig i felt helpless! i took a 1500 mile flight to go look at this thing, all i could do was think about how i would look in it.... i spent nights looking at pics i was sent by the owner.. hour upon hour..... The owner picked me up at the airport and off we went to look at it... I walked into the building and might as well of yelled SOLD! I knew he wanted it gone as much as i wanted but suddenly i adopted a studdering and drelwing problem. I saw it, fell in love, knew it had to be mine..... negotiation skills fly out the window at that point.... I'll tell you what didnt fly out the window and that was the fun meter, i enjoyed the piss out of that boat all year in Jax FL. You cant buy the memories me, friends, and the old lady had on that, i even proposed to her on it at the light parade.

Chances are if your looking for the deal of a life time on a Cigarette you cant affor to run and maintain it anyway. Gas alone is killer at $5.00/gallon, and maintiance will eat you up.

p.s. Dreamer i think you might be one of those non buyers??!!!
pp.ss still got the props?
