Correct, but it also depends on the boat and the engines. the 47 apache that was quick tempered went from trips to twin sterling's and is at nearly 120, it never saw more than 95 when it had trips.

will also kept his side by side, and only eliminated the one engine, but added a half cabin, so depleting power and adding weight was a difference too.

And just how big were the twin Sterlings? LOL Agreed, if you put massive HP new twins and dry sump drives as opposed to trip 850's with wet sump drives it is an entirely different proposition.

Either way those 47 (and the one 45) Apaches sure were wave crushers. I've been on several 47's as well as Will's 45 and they just ate up rough water. When Will paced the OC race a couple years ago we were easily cruising on top of the waves while pacing. Behind us P5 boats and bat boat were completely out of sight most of the time because the troughs of the waves were so deep.

But since this is a Cigarette thread I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the 46 RR is a wave crusher in it's own right.

I will have one of the 47's one day... trip 850's is 2550 hp. twin sterling 1300'sis 2600..but I believe they have been de tuned to 1150's. when quick was stripped it was weighed and was only 8600 lb hull, not bad for such a huge boat.

the 2 cig 46's i would like to see out are the one that had the torque V 12's and the trip blue one that used to be at hideaway, to see that one with twin 1075's would be awesome.

Please put me down on the go for a ride's list when you get it. They are just really cool. I've been on INXS and PTM Express/Lucky Strike as well as Will's boat. I have a framed original poster of INXS in my home office, what an awesome looking boat (although they really screwed up the fades in the paint job in it's current paint). INXS and PTM used to go on poker runs with us. They are awesome.
