Was that on a sportmaster foot? How big and did it look like a whale tail. His 38TS would get on plane it just would labor doing it,he would go up to 4000 |
On Sportmasters...and it looks fine..not out of place or like a whale tail. Kevin used to have blow out problems as well...his x is a little high as the boat was built originally for speed (105mph naturally aspirated motors). He also runs Merc lab 32's.
Now with the change no issues at all getting it up on plane. Call Phil and ask him what he recently did to Kevin's boat.... |
An old racers trick that may help here. We had 38 foot boats that had all the weight in the rear of the boat, engines, drives, saddle tanks etc and we were loaded with fuel at the start of a race, my boat held 540 gallons.
So, to get on plane we would rock the boats from side to side, like an exagerrated slow motion chine walk and at some point, with the throttles way up, the boat began to "believe" it was a flat bottom...... and start to get on plane on one side of the vee....once we had some speed up, we just flipped it right side up and took off for the start. |

I have no issues with slipping or blowout. But mine is a straight hull. drives on 2 Tabs down just a little past level and steady on the throttle, as it starts coming up drives out then tabs up. I've also always heard that Tigers are better with 4 blade bravo props.

Why would you run without the diffuser ring? Are you not concerned with melting the inner shell of the shaft? Just curious how you came about trying this method? :ernaehrung004:
