2112, Yeh sure...typical response having nothing to do with this situation. Running a 32' boat hard in 4 footers for 11 years and you are surprised it fell apart? Back on subject...There is a reason every team left Cig in the racing circuits - they were unpredictable in the turns and roll when they hook. Gladiators included - do a search.

Any twin step inc Fountain and Ol would have had the same end result in this particular situation. And, if you want to talk negatively about the Cig brand, do it elsewhere.

You brought it up by your comments on how much safer your 42 is.This boat was brand new and Custom ordered. It was a total piece of crap and I *****ed. The factory took it back and painted over all the cosmetic crap. It was a brand new boat. Reread the post.

They sent it back and said you are on your own. This was in 1999. I took the boat apart and rebuilt it from the inside out before it was ever splashed. The cabinetry under the acrylic down below? One tug with my bare hands and it was off. Not one piece of wood was marine grade. Not one piece of wood was radiused to reduce stress and ensure good fabric placement. Most structural components had only one layer of fabric over it. More air voids than you would ever want to know about. (I paid extra for the then option of vacuum bagging).

32 or 42? What difference does it make. It was not built well and I am sure yours is not either. They are about production #s, you know that.

If you want to know how bad your boat is put together, Look where they never expect you to.

Lastly. All stepped boats slide and hook when not driven correctly. I have seen plenty of pictures of fountains upside down in the water.

You cannot really say the outcome would have been the same on other brands. I follow the market a lot and although I think the Cigs have the best fit and finish, I would be hesitant to say they are as safe. Don't know about OL, but not as much as a Fountain. Just don't hear about them rolling very often if ever. Not talking trash - I love Cigs. Wouldn't stop me from buying one, because I know how to drive. Then again, who knows, maybe this guy can flip any brand.

That particular Fountain launched, tripped, stuffed, and escaped all that only to barrel roll SEVERAL times at an altitude of 8-10 feet ABOVE the waves. The impact splash was visible from space.:bsflag:
